Providing livelihoods

A few years ago, the Bling Clơớch household (residing in Ki'noonh village, A Xan commune, Tay Giang district) received a pair of black pigs from officers and soldiers of the Tr'Hy Border Guard Post through the "Border Guard Post Party members in charge of households in border areas" model. After a period of care, the pair of pigs gave birth to their first litter, helping Mr. Clơớch's household expand their livelihood.

Mr. Bling Clơớch stated that, in addition to providing breeding pigs, the officers and soldiers also guided the livestock care, especially in assisting with the construction of shelters to prevent disease outbreaks.

“Besides providing breeding pigs, the soldiers also taught the people how to switch from upland rice farming to paddy rice cultivation. Many other disadvantaged households in the village also received assistance with pig, chicken, and duck breeding stock to start their businesses and have escaped poverty,” Mr. Bling Clơớch shared.

Lieutenant Phan Thanh Phong, team leader of the community mobilization team (Tr'Hy Border Guard Station), said that the Bling Clơớch household is one of five households in Ki'noonh village that received assistance from the unit's officers and soldiers. Through livelihood support activities, 15 Party members of the unit are responsible for 41 disadvantaged households in the two communes of Tr'Hy and A Xan, helping them overcome difficulties and improve their livelihoods.

As the officer assigned by his unit to assist five disadvantaged families in the area, Lieutenant Phan Thanh Phong has regularly visited the grassroots level to understand the situation and the aspirations of the people.

Simultaneously, the Border Guard Post Tr'Hy developed a plan to advise the Party Committee and Command Board to coordinate with local authorities to help people develop livestock farming models, combined with planting fruit trees and medicinal plants under the forest canopy...

"After a period of assistance, many households have gradually found their way in economic development. In particular, household economic development models have proven effective, and people's lives are improving," Lieutenant Phan Thanh Phong added.

Instilling trust in the community.

Colonel Nguyen Ba Hung, Deputy Political Commissar of the Quang Nam Border Guard Command, said that alongside the task of managing and protecting the national border, in recent years, the Quang Nam Border Guard Command has done a good job in mass mobilization work, focusing on and promoting the role of the great national unity bloc, creating a solid foundation in building a people's border defense posture.

A typical example is the model of "Border Guard Party members in charge of households in border areas," with 184 Party members assigned to be in charge of 846 disadvantaged households in border and island areas.

This includes 121 Party members in charge of 106 ethnic minority households along the border with Laos, helping to form many livelihood models bearing the unique mark of Border Guard officers and soldiers.

During the implementation process, the Party committees and commanders of the border guard posts organized meetings and directly disseminated information to 846 households about the Party's guidelines and policies, State laws, agreements, and regulations of border areas and border gates; they also mobilized 75 vessels/1,125 fishermen to participate in the struggle to protect maritime sovereignty .

Simultaneously, in coordination with local forces, they contributed 636 man-days of labor to repairing houses, building new rural areas, and preventing and mitigating floods and storms.

In addition, through coordinated efforts, the Provincial Border Guard Command donated 7 "Houses of Love," provided 300 ducklings, 2 hectares of ginseng, and dozens of gifts and scholarships to students and people in border areas, with a total value of nearly 1.5 billion VND.

"Through many good, creative, and practically effective methods, the solidarity between the military and the people has become increasingly close, encouraging people to work and produce, and actively and effectively participate in the management and protection of national territorial sovereignty and border security," said Colonel Nguyen Ba Hung.

According to Colonel Hoang Van Man, Political Commissar of the Quang Nam Border Guard Command, in the coming time, the unit will continue to effectively implement the policy of strengthening Border Guard officers in border communes, especially assigning Party members to be in charge of disadvantaged households, as well as promoting the model of "Border Guard Party members participating in activities at village and neighborhood Party branches". This will strengthen the solidarity between the military and the people, contributing to poverty reduction and the construction of new rural areas...
