Minister of Health: Female nurse protecting patient in emergency situation is a typical example

Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan affirmed that nurse Nguyen Thi Thuy Trang bravely protected patients and their families in an emergency situation, and is a typical example leaving an unforgettable mark in carrying out her duties.

On the morning of October 26, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Health organized the 8th Patriotic Emulation Congress, period 2025-2030 with the theme "Solidarity - Creativity - Health sector confidently enters the era of national development".

At the ceremony, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan said that, since the call of President Ho Chi Minh, over the past 80 years, the emulation flame has burned brightly throughout the history of the nation. Patriotic emulation movements have mobilized resources from the whole society, creating a combined strength, contributing greatly to the achievements of historical significance in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, especially in the current development period.

Ms. Lan affirmed that the health sector has been constantly growing, contributing to the process of building and defending the Fatherland. In the past 5 years, the health sector has launched patriotic emulation movements throughout the sector, which have been enthusiastically responded to by all cadres, civil servants and workers. Many patriotic emulation movements, creative work, development of new products and new techniques have become strong spiritual motivations, creating successes in carrying out the sector's tasks.

Every year, the health sector honors advanced models with rich and diverse topics, closely following the sector's tasks each year and each stage. In particular, during the Covid-19 pandemic, the entire sector has become a frontline force, united, dedicated, and ready to sacrifice to protect the health and lives of the people. Many examples of doctors have sacrificed themselves, and many scientific initiatives have contributed to helping the country overcome difficult times.

In addition, the health sector has launched a movement to change style, improve medical ethics, and aim at the satisfaction of patients and their families, aiming to improve the quality of comprehensive health care, from attitude to expertise. Thereby, hospitals have made clear changes, satisfaction index has increased, and the image of doctors has been enhanced.

Emulation movements such as “Occupational safety and hygiene in the health sector”, “Building green - clean - beautiful health facilities” have attracted the participation of many units. The movement “Cadres, civil servants and public employees emulate 70 years following Uncle Ho’s teachings”; charity fund mobilization movements such as “Bright Tomorrow Fund”, “Charitable Arms”, “Pot of Love Porridge”, “Humanitarian Blood Donation”… have contributed to improving people’s health care.

Movements in public and private units, from disease prevention, scientific research, to healthcare in remote areas, have left many marks in the industry.

Minister Dao Hong Lan cited the case of nurse Nguyen Thi Thuy Trang (Department of Neonatology, Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital) who bravely protected patients and their families in an emergency. This is a typical example that left an unforgettable mark in the implementation of duties and sacrifices of a medical practitioner.

In the coming time, the Minister of Health called for solidarity and unanimity of all cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers in the sector to complete the tasks assigned by the Party and the State, especially implementing Party documents and recently issued Resolutions of the Central Committee and the Politburo.

Speaking at the Congress, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long emphasized that the Party, the State and the entire political system are synchronously implementing historic and strategic breakthrough policies to bring the country firmly into a new era. This requires the health sector to further promote emulation movements in the coming time, in order to actively contribute to the implementation of Resolution No. 72 of the Politburo on breakthrough solutions in strengthening the protection and care of people's health.

The Ministry of Health also prioritizes the development of institutional documents, focusing on the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Pharmacy Law and the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Health Insurance Law, and completing the dossier on the Population Law...

In addition, the industry needs to innovate emulation and reward movements in a practical and effective way; rewards need to be public, transparent, focusing on those who work directly, cadres who are close to the grassroots in remote, isolated and particularly difficult areas. The industry needs to focus on improving medical ethics, each cadre, doctor and medical staff must always maintain and promote the quality of "a good doctor is like a mother", while constantly improving professional capacity.
