Minister of Health: Female nurse protecting patient in emergency situation is a typical example

Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan affirmed that nurse Nguyen Thi Thuy Trang bravely protected patients and their families in an emergency situation, and is a typical example leaving an unforgettable mark in carrying out her duties.

On the morning of October 26th, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Health organized the 8th National Emulation Congress, covering the period 2025-2030, with the theme "Unity - Creativity - The Health Sector confidently enters the era of national progress."

At the ceremony, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan stated that, following President Ho Chi Minh's call, the flame of emulation has burned brightly throughout the nation's history for the past 80 years. Patriotic emulation movements have mobilized resources from the entire society, creating a combined strength and making a significant contribution to historically significant achievements in the construction and protection of the Fatherland, especially in the current development stage.

Ms. Lan affirmed that the health sector has continuously grown stronger, contributing significantly to the process of national construction and defense. Over the past five years, the health sector has launched patriotic emulation movements throughout the sector, which have been enthusiastically embraced by all officials, civil servants, and workers. Many patriotic emulation movements, creative labor initiatives, and the development of new products and techniques have become powerful driving forces, leading to successes in fulfilling the sector's tasks.

Every year, the health sector honors advanced models with rich and diverse topics, closely following the sector's tasks each year and each stage. In particular, during the Covid-19 pandemic, the entire sector has become a frontline force, united, dedicated, and ready to sacrifice to protect the health and lives of the people. Many examples of doctors have sacrificed themselves, and many scientific initiatives have contributed to helping the country overcome difficult times.

In addition, the health sector has launched a movement to change practices, improve medical ethics, and aim for patient and family satisfaction, in order to improve the overall quality of healthcare, from attitude to expertise. As a result, hospitals have seen significant changes, satisfaction indices have increased, and the image of medical professionals has been enhanced.

Emulation movements such as “Occupational safety and hygiene in the health sector”, “Building green - clean - beautiful health facilities” have attracted the participation of many units. The movement “Cadres, civil servants and public employees emulate 70 years following Uncle Ho’s teachings”; charity fund mobilization movements such as “Bright Tomorrow Fund”, “Charitable Arms”, “Pot of Love Porridge”, “Humanitarian Blood Donation”… have contributed to improving people’s health care.

Movements in public and private units, from disease prevention, scientific research, to healthcare in remote areas, have left many marks in the industry.

Minister Dao Hong Lan cited the case of nurse Nguyen Thi Thuy Trang (Neonatal Department, Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital) who bravely protected patients and their families in critical situations. This is a prime example that leaves an unforgettable mark in the performance of duties and the sacrifices of medical professionals.

Looking ahead, the Minister of Health calls for unity and solidarity among all officials, civil servants, and employees in the sector to fulfill the tasks assigned by the Party and the State, especially the implementation of Party documents, Central Committee resolutions, and Politburo resolutions issued recently.

In his keynote address at the Congress, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long emphasized that the Party, the State, and the entire political system are implementing comprehensive, historically significant, and strategically groundbreaking policies to lead the country into a new era. This endeavor requires the health sector to further promote emulation movements in the coming period, aiming to make positive contributions to the implementation of Resolution No. 72 of the Politburo on breakthrough solutions in strengthening the protection and care of people's health.

The Ministry of Health also prioritizes the development of institutional documents, focusing on the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Pharmacy and the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Health Insurance, and completing the dossier on the Law on Population...

Furthermore, the sector needs to innovate its emulation and reward movements towards practicality and effectiveness; rewards should be public and transparent, focusing on those working directly, and on grassroots officials in remote, disadvantaged, and particularly difficult areas. The sector needs to focus on improving medical ethics; every official, doctor, and medical staff member must always uphold and promote the qualities of "a good doctor is like a loving mother," while continuously improving their professional capacity.

At the Congress, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long awarded the Labor Medal to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements. Minister Dao Hong Lan awarded certificates of merit to collectives and individuals with achievements in the patriotic emulation movement in the period 2020-2025.
