The 2025 International Aerial Nature Photography Awards has just announced the best winning photos, including a photo of a field in Vietnam that was selected to be published in a book.

Professional and amateur photographers from around the world entered the aerial nature photography competition and captured breathtaking, almost never-before-seen views.

Part of the appeal is the fresh and different perspective than what we're used to seeing when walking around with our eyes a foot and a half above the ground. Looking down from above creates a novel, fascinating, and sometimes ambiguous perspective, according to Fobes .

The award follows the 10-year success of the International Landscape Photography Awards, which were launched by American photographers Peter Eastway and David Evans. The 2025 Aerial Photography Awards attracted more than 1,500 entries from around the world, showcasing a range of new perspectives, from wildlife and nature to fairytale-like landscapes.

To be included in the top 101 and published in the book, participants needed to score at least 86.67 points as determined by a panel of professional judges. Here are the winning photos and the photos selected for the book:

The overall winner for 2025 is Joanna Steidle, USA, for her stunning underwater wildlife series. The photo, titled Entrance, shows a shark as it makes its way into a school of menhaden in the Atlantic Ocean.

This photo, also by photographer Joanna Steidle, captures a small school of bullnose rays stirring up their migration in Southampton, New York.
