Farmers growing Phuc Trach pomelos in Huong Khe ( Ha Tinh province ) have basically completed the harvest of this specialty pomelo variety, with an estimated production value of nearly 590 billion VND.
The 2023 Phuc Trach pomelo harvest was considered bountiful and fetched good prices.
According to reports from the specialized departments of Huong Khe district, the harvest rate of Phuc Trach pomelos has reached over 99%. Although the yield did not meet expectations, the 2023 pomelo season is still considered a good harvest with favorable prices.
The entire district currently has 2,768 hectares of Phuc Trach pomelo orchards, of which 1,906 hectares are in production. With a yield of over 110 quintals/hectare, the total production of Huong Khe district in 2023 is estimated at approximately 21,000 tons, with an estimated production value of nearly 590 billion VND (equivalent to 2022).
The consumption of Phuc Trach pomelos is quite favorable, especially since many households know how to promote and sell them through e-commerce channels.
According to Mr. Nguyen Tri Dong, Head of the Agriculture and Rural Development Department of Huong Khe district, the average selling price at orchards is higher than in the 2022 and 2021 pomelo seasons, ranging from 25,000 to 28,000 VND per fruit. Notably, many orchards and cooperatives have increased their product sales through e-commerce channels. Some units have even connected with and introduced their products at trade exhibitions in overseas markets.
Currently, specialized agencies are implementing a plan to guide farmers on techniques for cultivating, treating pests and diseases, and restoring grapefruit trees after harvest, in order to prepare for a bountiful new season.
