Domestic coffee price list updated at 4:00 a.m. on December 28, 2024 |
According to information from the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), in the first 10 months of 2024, the US imported nearly 1.24 million tons of coffee from 103 countries and territories, with a total value of 7.35 billion USD. Compared to the same period last year, the volume of imported coffee increased by 3.5%, while the value increased by 3.3%.
The main coffee suppliers to the US market include: Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Canada, Nicaragua, Indonesia and Vietnam. Of which, Brazil leads with 358.6 thousand tons, worth 1.53 billion USD, up 27.2% in volume and 28.8% in value compared to the same period last year. Brazil's coffee market share in total US imports increased from 23.6% to 29%.
Colombia followed with 216.8 thousand tons, up 4.3% year-on-year, raising its market share to 17.5%. Meanwhile, Vietnam exported only 91.8 thousand tons of coffee to the US, worth 335 million USD, down 31.5% in volume and 1.3% in value. Vietnam's coffee market share also fell from 11.2% to 7.4%.
The average import price of coffee from Brazil increased by 1.2% to $4,255 per ton, while that from Vietnam increased sharply by 44.1% to $3,650 per ton. In contrast, import prices from Colombia, Peru, Canada and Nicaragua tended to decrease.
Robusta coffee prices fell in mid-December 2024 as inventories on the ICE exchange rose to a four-week high. In addition, pressure from the new harvest in Vietnam also affected coffee prices. However, the progress of the coffee harvest in the Central Highlands is still affected by the weather, raising concerns about the next crop's coffee output. Currently, the harvest is half completed.
While arabica coffee prices are recovering thanks to the depreciation of the Brazilian currency, traders remain concerned about the country’s crop prospects. Volcafe, one of the world’s leading traders, has cut its forecast for Brazil’s arabica coffee production in 2025-26 to 34.4 million bags, down 11 million bags from its previous estimate. The forecast also points to a global arabica deficit of 8.5 million bags in 2025-26, up from a deficit of 5.5 million bags in 2024-25.
