Singer Anh Tho cried while singing a song about General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong

Just two days after its release on YouTube, the song surpassed 1 million views. It received overwhelmingly positive feedback from both listeners and critics.

The song "A Life as Fragrant Lotus" is inspired by the Quan Ho folk music of Bac Ninh , with simple, refined lyrics and a deep, poignant melody. Through the voice of singer Anh Tho, the song has deeply touched the emotions of many listeners.

Author Ha Tung Long said that after hearing the news of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's passing, he was deeply saddened. Immediately, he wrote four lines of poetry to express his grief and shared them on social media. He didn't expect these four lines to resonate with so many people and be shared on their personal pages.

From then on, he harbored the desire to create something that could spread more widely, touch the emotions of more people, and endure through time.

"In my grief and sorrow, I wanted to do something meaningful and valuable to honor General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. And I started composing the song 'A Life as Fragrant Lotus' two days after the General Secretary passed away," Long said.

After that, composer Pham Tuan Anh began working on the song's arrangement in a very short time. Singer Anh Tho, who was on a business trip in Hue at the time, had to change her flight schedule to return earlier to record the song.

Singer Anh Thơ shared that, for her, General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng was a very respected leader. His entire life was dedicated to the country and its people. Therefore, upon hearing the news of General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng's passing, she wanted to do something to express her feelings, gratitude, and sorrow.

"Upon receiving the song 'A Lifetime as a Fragrant Lotus,' I was surprised by its profound and meaningful message. The lyrics are simple yet refined and insightful; the melody is poignant and deeply moving… perfectly suited to my mood, as well as everyone else's, right now."

On the way from Hue to Hanoi, I tried my best to memorize the song, so that when I entered the recording studio, I could record very quickly. During the recording process, I tried very hard to control my emotions so that the lump in my throat wouldn't get mixed into the lyrics, but in the end, tears still welled up.

"Feeling the emotions in each lyric of the song, and looking back at the life of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, I am even more grateful to him for living a life dedicated to the country and the people, with the unwavering loyalty of a communist," singer Anh Tho expressed.
