Vietnamese Representative Agencies in the US Remember Historic Autumn Days

Last weekend, Vietnamese representative agencies in the US solemnly organized the program "80 years of historic Autumn", celebrating the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution, Vietnam's National Day, the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Diplomatic Sector and the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the People's Public Security.

Attending the program were Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Nguyen Quoc Dung, Vietnamese Ambassador to the United Nations (UN) Do Hung Viet, Vietnamese Consuls General in San Francisco and Houston, and officials and party members of Vietnamese representative agencies in the US.

The program was connected online between the Vietnamese Embassy in Washington, the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations in New York, the Vietnamese Consulate General in San Francisco and the Vietnamese Consulate General in Houston.

In his opening speech, Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Nguyen Quoc Dung reviewed the historical milestones of the nation, considering this an opportunity for officials and party members working in the area to review traditions, contemplate values ​​and together affirm the responsibility of today's generation.

The Ambassador stated that the Fall of 1945 has entered the history of the nation and humanity as a brilliant milestone, creating the foundation and inspiration for the next stage of the Vietnamese people over the past 80 years.

Also according to Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Dung, on the very day the August Revolution succeeded, the People's Public Security force was born, closely associated with the survival of the revolutionary government from the very beginning.

Also in the fall of August 1945, the Diplomatic Service was established under the founding and direct guidance of President Ho Chi Minh. He was also the first Foreign Minister of the new Vietnam, creating the foundation for Vietnamese diplomacy to gradually mature and achieve great achievements. To date, Vietnam has established diplomatic relations with 194 countries, established strategic and comprehensive partnerships with 38 countries, participated in more than 70 international organizations and 17 new-generation Free Trade Agreements (FTAs).

The Ambassador emphasized that this year is also the occasion to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of National Defense (August 27, 1945 - August 27, 2025). Over the past 80 years, the three forces of public security, diplomacy and defense have coordinated and "combatantly cooperated" closely, creating a combined strength, all for the benefit of the nation, for the happiness of the people and contributing to international peace .

The Ambassador affirmed that, inheriting and becoming more aware of his responsibility in the new context when the international situation is increasingly complicated and unpredictable, the Party Committee in the US must uphold the spirit of serving the Fatherland and the people. The lesson of 80 years ago remains valuable, that is, to be steadfast in independence, self-reliance, flexibility, creativity, and to combine national strength with the strength of the times.

Attending the program "80 years of historic Autumn" at the connecting points, representatives of the public security, diplomacy, Vietnam's peacekeeping mission to the UN and the young generation gave heartfelt speeches, affirming their determination to continue training and striving to be worthy of the heroic tradition of the Vietnamese people.

On this occasion, delegates attending the program watched a documentary introducing the heroic revolutionary tradition of the diplomatic and public security sectors, and enjoyed special performances praising their homeland and country.

Joining in the atmosphere of pride towards the heroic history of the nation, the children participated in the Contest to learn about revolutionary traditions, the diplomatic sector and the police sector. This is not only a useful playground but also an opportunity for children to learn more about the history of the nation, about the great contributions of generations of fathers, diplomatic officers and police officers in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
