Flash flood, landslide and land subsidence warning in Khanh Hoa

While the current soil moisture model is almost saturated, the rains that have occurred in the past time and are forecast to continue in the coming days, the specialized agency has warned of the risk of flash floods, landslides, and land subsidence in 58/64 communes and wards in the whole province.

Accordingly, the specialized agency determined that in the past 6 hours (from 4:00 to 10:00 on December 4), Khanh Hoa province had moderate rain; rainfall at some stations as follows: Suoi Cat 21.6mm, Suoi Dau Lake 21mm,... The soil moisture model shows that some areas in Khanh Hoa province are nearly 85% saturated.

According to the forecasting agency, on the day and night of December 4, Khanh Hoa province will have rain, moderate rain; with rainfall ranging from 20-40mm, in some places higher than 70mm. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. There is a risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams in mountainous areas; landslides on steep slopes, land subsidence in areas of spillways, small rivers and streams, mountain slopes, and steep mountain passes in 58 communes and wards (according to the map) across the province.

Flash floods and landslides have negative impacts on the environment, threaten people's lives; cause local traffic congestion; destroy civil and economic works, causing damage to production, economic and social activities.
