"According to the latest information from Vietnamese representative agencies in Egypt, which also cover Lebanon, Iran, and Israel, the situation of Vietnamese citizens in these areas remains safe and stable," Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said on September 19 in response to a reporter's question regarding the series of explosions involving communication equipment that killed dozens and injured thousands in Lebanon recently.
Following the direction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vietnam's representative offices in Egypt, which also cover Lebanon, Iran, and Israel, continue to coordinate closely with local authorities to closely monitor developments, proactively develop and implement plans to protect citizens, including considering plans to evacuate citizens from dangerous areas, Ms. Hang said.
Also at the press conference, a representative from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs clearly stated Vietnam's reaction to the incident.
"Vietnam is closely monitoring and deeply concerned about recent developments in the Middle East. Vietnam calls on all relevant parties to exercise restraint, end conflicts, enhance dialogue, resolve disagreements through peaceful means, abide by international law and the UN Charter, for the benefit of the people, and for peace and stability in the region," Ms. Hang affirmed.
For Vietnamese citizens in the aforementioned countries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises them to regularly monitor information from local authorities, warnings from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Vietnamese representative agencies in those locations in order to respond promptly.
In case assistance is needed, Vietnamese citizens can call the citizen protection hotline of Vietnamese representative agencies in the aforementioned countries, as well as the citizen protection hotline of the Consular Department - Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
