What is special is that bringing Vietnamese music to the world is not only done by Vietnamese singers and musicians, but also by foreigners who have lived in Vietnam, or have never even set foot on the S-shaped strip of land. Music is the bridge that helps them know and love Vietnam, so that they can contribute to spreading Vietnamese music and culture in their own ways. Rahul Kumar, an Indian guy who owns covers of Vietnamese songs with millions of views, is such a case.

If you just listen, you might think that this is a Vietnamese singer singing! But no, it is a young Indian IT engineer who has never been to Vietnam, nor has he ever taken a formal Vietnamese language class.

Rahul Kumar shared: "I have never been to Vietnam. There are no Vietnamese people where I live. My journey with Vietnamese music began when I heard the song "Come back to me" by singer Vo Ha Tram. I decided to learn the Vietnamese lyrics and sing the song again. After posting it on social media, the positive feedback from viewers online encouraged me to continue singing Vietnamese songs."

In just over a year, Rahul has sung dozens of Vietnamese songs of many genres, from revolutionary music, to folk songs, bolero, pop music, rap... His soulful voice and precise pronunciation have made a strong impression on the online community, with many clips reaching millions of views.

According to Rahul, learning to sing Vietnamese songs is not easy. It takes him weeks to feel and understand a song, then learn the lyrics and pronunciation in Vietnamese by asking Vietnamese friends to correct it, and finally record it.

At the end of 2024, Rahul Kumar was invited by VTV to Vietnam to participate in the program "Vietnam - Come and Love". Seeing with his own eyes and feeling what he had known through songs, this young man was once again "conquered" by the people and culture here.
