In the spacious 1,000 m² workshop in Ninh Gia commune, neatly stacked boxes of packaged straw mushrooms are prepared for shipment to the United States. Le Huu Han, the 24-year-old director, meticulously checks every step, from storage temperature to sealing the boxes. "I want these boxes of mushrooms, when they reach customers in Australia, the US, or Italy, to still retain the full flavor of our local produce," he says.
Growing up in a fertile agricultural region, Hân witnessed many instances of "high prices but poor harvests, or good harvests but low prices," with agricultural products being discarded due to oversupply. Hân shared: "Farmers' produce is diverse and high-quality, but most of it is only sold fresh. If it could be processed and canned, the products would last longer and reach further markets, easing the burden on farmers."
Hân comes from a family with two brothers, and he lives with his mother. Due to their modest financial situation, he chose to attend a college instead of a university so he could graduate early and help support his family. While studying Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Da Lat College, Hân worked part-time and actively participated in social activities. After graduating, he returned to his hometown and worked as an employee at Hong An Production and Trading Company Limited (Hiep Thanh commune). There, Hân gained valuable business experience and recognized the great potential of his hometown's agricultural products. The idea of processing and canning these agricultural products and promoting them to the world began to take shape from there.
In early 2025, Han and his partners established Gaco Greenfoods Joint Stock Company, specializing in processing and exporting canned agricultural products. From the very beginning, Han determined that to bring Vietnamese agricultural products to the international market, they couldn't follow the old ways; instead, they had to standardize every process according to global standards. From sourcing raw materials directly from farms and selecting clean agricultural products to preservation, processing, and packaging, everything strictly adheres to technical and food safety requirements.
Thanks to this, Gaco Greenfoods has achieved BRC (British Retail Consortium) certification – the highest standard for food quality and safety, considered a "passport" to demanding markets such as the EU and the US. Just a few months after its launch, the first shipment of over 16,000 cans of straw mushrooms traveled thousands of kilometers to reach the US. To date, more than 100,000 canned agricultural products from Gaco Greenfoods are available in the US, Italy, Australia, and Hong Kong…
Not stopping at straw mushrooms, Mr. Han and his colleagues are continuing to expand into new directions with canned baby corn and asparagus; at the same time, they plan to invest in modern machinery to improve productivity and product quality.
Alongside his entrepreneurial endeavors, Mr. Han didn't forget to pursue his education. While running his company, he simultaneously pursued further studies and graduated with honors. Mr. Han shared: "I believe that only through continuous learning can one be strong enough to lead a business to the future and ensure its sustainability."
Beyond his passion for business, Mr. Han is also a dynamic and active young man in community activities. He was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Central Youth Union for his outstanding achievements in the Green Summer campaign. In 2021, amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, Mr. Han volunteered to join a volunteer team to support disease prevention and control efforts and assist people in need. Furthermore, he regularly contributes to humanitarian activities, supporting the poor and orphaned children. Regarding his voluntary blood donation journey, Mr. Han has donated blood 18 times to save lives, and this spirit has inspired many young people.
At the age of 24, Le Huu Han not only successfully started his own business but also spread the image of a young heart full of enthusiasm, great ambition, daring to dream, daring to act, and daring to see things through to the end.
