According to initial information, at around 7 PM on February 24th, residents living on Nguyen Van Tra Street (Vinh Loc B commune, Binh Chanh district) discovered three adjacent workshops producing wood, plastic, and helmets engulfed in flames, so they shouted for help and tried to put out the fire.
Due to the presence of flammable materials, the fire erupted fiercely and spread rapidly. The blaze created a column of smoke rising dozens of meters high, rendering the local firefighting forces helpless. Fearing the fire would spread and suffocation from the smoke, residents living in the surrounding area evacuated and moved to nearby fields for refuge.
Upon receiving the report, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police dispatched numerous vehicles and officers to the scene to extinguish the fire. A section of Nguyen Van Tra street was cordoned off. The power system was temporarily shut off to facilitate firefighting efforts.
By 10 PM the same day, the fire was basically under control. Although the fire did not cause any casualties, it destroyed or damaged a lot of property in the three workshops.
The cause and exact extent of the damage are currently being investigated by the authorities.
