Ho Chi Minh City Summer Volunteer Soldiers 2024 officially enter the battle

This year's summer volunteer programs and campaigns in Ho Chi Minh City will have 9 weeks of activities, starting today and lasting until August 4.

Summer volunteer activities organized by the City Youth Union, the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union and the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Student Association.

This year, there are still four campaigns: Red Phoenix Flower, Green March, Pink Holiday, and Green Summer, along with two programs: Exam Support and Green Tutoring, all linked to the theme "Year of Youth Volunteers" of the Youth Union's work nationwide.

The city's youth need to listen to local authorities and people where summer volunteers work to create more practical programs, projects, and tasks.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Ho Hai conveyed the hope and trust of the city's leaders to the union members, youth and volunteer soldiers.

Mr. Hai said that summer volunteer programs and campaigns in Ho Chi Minh City have developed and grown over the years.

Mr. Hai told the campaign command to try to mobilize the greatest resources for programs and campaigns.

"In addition to carrying out projects simultaneously, it is necessary to continue to improve, maintain, and make good use of existing projects and works."

"That's one of the criteria we've set; it's not enough for the youth volunteers to just leave after they've finished their work. We need to ensure the continuity and effectiveness of the project," Mr. Hai noted.

Remember "Make people trust, stay and people love, go and people remember"

Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union, Tran Thu Ha, on behalf of the Youth Union, received the directives from the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee. Launching the 2024 summer volunteer programs and campaigns, Ms. Ha emphasized the importance of safety, discipline, and staying close to the local reality.

Thereby, paying attention to implementing projects and tasks related to solving local problems that need support. Each soldier upholds the spirit of "making people trust, staying and being loved by people, leaving and being remembered by people".

The key areas of the 2024 summer volunteer activities are 22 districts and Thu Duc City (HCMC). The sea and island front includes Thanh An island commune (Can Gio district, HCMC) and Phu Quy island district ( Binh Thuan province).

In particular, this year will mark 20 years of Ho Chi Minh City youth organizing summer volunteer activities in Laos.

Ho Chi Minh City's summer volunteer students will be present in 17 provinces, including: Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Nong, Phu Yen, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, Binh Phuoc, Tay Ninh, Long An, Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Dong Thap, Vinh Long, Tra Vinh , An Giang, Hau Giang, and Kien Giang.

The activities closely adhere to the "3 linkages" principle (linking forces - linking areas - linking communities) and the "3 commonalities" perspective (common peak days - common targets - common projects).

Key projects of Ho Chi Minh City Summer Volunteers 2024:

1. "Saigon River - The river of my city".

2. Building "Youth Island" in Thanh An island commune (Can Gio district).

3. Landscape improvement of Vo Chi Cong street (Thu Duc city).

4. Digitizing the tombstones of martyrs at the Ho Chi Minh City Martyrs' Cemetery (phase 2) and collecting and digitizing information on soldiers in Ho Chi Minh City at martyrs' cemeteries nationwide; digitizing and restoring photographs and information of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, heroic martyrs, and parents of revolutionary movements.
