Proactive educational innovation: The key to success in high school graduation exams

Proactivity, determination and close coordination have helped many students achieve high scores and many educational institutions achieve 100% graduation rates.

The 2018 General Education Program is designed to develop students' qualities and abilities; learning content focuses on skills in applying knowledge into practice.

Educational institutions have proactively applied new educational methods in teaching and organized activities to differentiate students' abilities in order to provide educational solutions suitable to their ability to access knowledge.

Tran Quang Khai High School is located in a remote area of Cu M'gar commune, where people's lives are still difficult and education has not received adequate attention from an early age, leading to low starting points for students; the proportion of ethnic minority students accounts for about 40%.

In order for students to "catch up" with the 2018 General Education Program, the school's Board of Directors has encouraged teachers to make efforts to help each student develop their qualities and abilities according to the goals of innovation.

Mr. Le Chi Khai, the school's principal, said that when Circular No. 29 of the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) on extra teaching and learning took effect, 100% of teachers voluntarily taught for free to 90% of 12th grade students who applied for review at the school (7 Literature classes, 7 Math classes, 4 Social Science classes, 1 Natural Science class). Extra teaching comes from the love, responsibility and honor of teachers, so students also responded positively and studied seriously. The harmonious coordination between teachers and students in educational activities has helped the school steer the "ship" to a successful destination with 100% of students passing the graduation exam.

"Although the high school graduation exam results were not as expected, they still reflect the efforts of the entire education sector before this important exam" - Mr. , Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training.

According to Mr. Huynh Tan Chau, Principal of Luong Van Chanh High School for the Gifted (Tuy Hoa Ward), the 2018 General Education Program has knowledge content related to practice, requiring teachers to proactively update and understand the structure, content, and requirements of the lesson to innovate teaching methods. Students themselves must also innovate their learning methods, from memorizing lessons to proactively learning to know and apply knowledge. Students who achieved high scores in this year's exam are mostly those who study hard, have a good self-study spirit, proactively seek out learning materials, and are able to apply knowledge to practice.

The 2024-2025 school year is also the first year that Ton Duc Thang High School No. 2 (Ea Ly commune) innovated teaching and review methods for grade 12 students and achieved a 100% high school graduation rate.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Nam, the school's principal, shared: "The school has 148 grade 12 students, of which 50% are ethnic minority students. Based on the school's characteristics, we have oriented students early on to choose subjects for the high school graduation exam; required teachers to stay close to the class and students to impart knowledge, integrating reviewing old knowledge with teaching new knowledge; screening weak students for extra tutoring; and organizing mock high school graduation exams to help students get used to the exam environment and gain test-taking skills." Thanks to this support, some students who were at risk of failing the graduation exam have passed with encouraging results.

In this year's exam, Vo Nguyen Giap High School (Ea O commune) had 241 candidates participating in the exam and achieved a 100% graduation rate. This is the third year that the school's students have participated in the high school graduation exam; the second year that the school has had a 100% graduation rate. Notably, the school had two students scoring 10 in Geography and one student scoring 10 in History. Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Principal of Vo Nguyen Giap High School, said that maintaining a 100% graduation rate in 2025 is a great success for the school. The above results are thanks to early consultation on graduation exam subjects, helping students have specific orientations, proactively study and receive support from their families to have more time to study; organizing 3 graduation mock exams to help students have the skills to read questions, do tests and not be confused when taking the exam...
