"If disease prevention and control solutions in schools are not well implemented, small outbreaks will spread from sporadic cases into large outbreaks" - Deputy Director of the Department of Health |
Master, Doctor Nguyen Thi Thang, Deputy Head of the Department of Infectious Disease Prevention and Control - International Health Quarantine (Provincial Center for Disease Control) said that every year, the start of the new school year is also the time of changing seasons, many infectious diseases are at risk of increasing. For infectious diseases that have vaccines such as measles, chickenpox, whooping cough, dengue fever, parents need to proactively vaccinate their children according to the recommendations of the health sector. Given the complicated developments of the epidemic, early vaccination is the most effective measure and must be carried out before an epidemic occurs. Some parents often make the mistake of taking their children to get vaccinated when they see many sick children around them. However, late vaccination will not be as effective as expected because the children themselves may have been exposed to the pathogenic microorganisms.
According to statistics from the Provincial Center for Disease Control, since the beginning of the year, the whole province has recorded 158 cases of COVID-19, 4,374 cases of dengue fever, 1,039 cases of hand, foot and mouth disease... mainly concentrated in the areas of Buon Ma Thuot City (old), Cu M'Gar, Krong Pac districts (old), Tuy An district (old)...
According to Deputy Director of the Department of Health Huynh Le Xuan Bich, it is forecasted that in the coming time, especially in the rainy season, dengue fever and hand, foot and mouth disease may increase. With the specific climate of the region, the current time is very favorable for mosquitoes transmitting dengue fever to develop in both the East and West of the province. In recent times, the health sector has implemented many plans and solutions to prevent and control epidemics in the province. The Department of Health has also organized inspection teams led by the department's leaders to work directly at medical centers to grasp the reality.

The health sector has proactively guided educational institutions, requiring them to have adequate hand washing facilities, soap and convenient locations to facilitate caregivers and children to wash their hands with soap; clean classrooms, clean the surfaces of desks and chairs and toys daily with soap or common detergents.
In addition, the Department of Health has directed the Provincial Center for Disease Control to develop a plan to prevent and control hand, foot and mouth disease in the province, strengthen epidemiological surveillance; monitor patients; to detect early cases of the disease in medical facilities, kindergartens and the community; ensure 100% of hand, foot and mouth disease cases are monitored and reported according to regulations.
The health sector closely coordinates with the education sector to organize propaganda at schools and educational institutions on measures to prevent and control dengue fever, mobilize teachers and students to participate in environmental sanitation activities, eliminate mosquito larvae in water containers in the house and surrounding areas; review response plans, ensure there is no shortage of medicine, infusions, supplies, chemicals to prevent and control epidemics...
