Over the past week, ministries, branches and localities continued to implement tasks and solutions to combat IUU fishing under the direction of the Prime Minister. The results of combating IUU fishing in some localities continued to have positive changes. According to the report of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment , as of October 27, the whole country had 80,273 fishing vessels, of which 99.8% had been registered and updated on the national fisheries database VNFishbase; 141 vessels were unregistered (a decrease of 151 vessels compared to the previous week).
Fishing licensing continues to progress, with 77,017 vessels licensed (96.11% of the total number of vessels); the number of unlicensed vessels has decreased by more than 2,500. During the week, localities deregistered 500 fishing vessels and strengthened control of import and export. The eCDT electronic system recorded more than 4,200 fishing vessels leaving and arriving at ports, with a monitored output of 11,473 tons of aquatic products...
In Dak Lak, the province currently has 2,675 fishing vessels, a decrease of 144 vessels compared to last week due to the review and cancellation of registration of sunken, damaged or abandoned vessels. The number of vessels without fishing licenses continues to decrease sharply, to 355 vessels (a decrease of 348 vessels), of which only 24 vessels operate in the open sea.

The journey monitoring work was strictly maintained with 687/688 ships having installed VMS equipment; only 1 ship had not completed the installation due to being converted. During the week, there were no cases of exceeding the exploitation boundary. Fishing port management and traceability activities were strengthened. By the end of October, the eCDT system recorded 10,924 ships arriving and departing from the port (up 1% compared to the previous week). Currently, localities continue to support ship owners to complete registration, inspection, and licensing, contributing to ending the situation of "three no ships" (no registration, no inspection, no license).
Concluding the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha requested ministries, branches and localities to concentrate all resources on implementing the peak month against IUU fishing, thoroughly handling the situation of “three-no ships”, strictly controlling ships that lose VMS connection and exceed fishing boundaries. At the same time, carefully prepare documents, data and negotiation scenarios to serve the work with the European Commission (EC) inspection team in the coming time.
The Deputy Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to continue standardizing fleet data, perfecting the electronic fishing log system and the automatic warning mechanism for VMS disconnection, ensuring consistency and transparency. At the same time, coordinate with the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Public Security and localities to strictly handle violations, preventing Vietnamese fishing vessels from being captured by foreign countries.
