President Luong Cuong hosts official reception for Hungarian President

On the afternoon of May 28, at the International Convention Center, Hanoi, President Luong Cuong and his wife hosted a solemn reception for Hungarian President Sulyok Tamas and his wife, who are on an official visit to Vietnam.

In an atmosphere of friendship, on behalf of the State and people of Vietnam, President Luong Cuong warmly welcomed Hungarian President Sulyok Tamas and his wife and the high-ranking Hungarian delegation to their official visit to Vietnam.

The President pointed out that 75 years ago, Hungary was one of the first 10 countries in the world to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam and that great source of encouragement, during the most difficult times, helped Vietnam have more confidence in the inevitable victory of the just struggle.

The President affirmed that the Party, State and people of Vietnam always remember and are grateful for the valuable support and assistance that the Hungarian people have given Vietnam during the arduous years of struggle for independence and national reunification in the past, as well as in the cause of construction and development today.

Looking back over the past seven decades, the President expressed his delight at the positive development of the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Hungary in all areas. Political relations have become increasingly trustworthy with the two countries regularly exchanging delegations at all levels, especially high-level ones; closely coordinating and supporting each other at multilateral forums and on many international issues.

Economic cooperation has developed strongly with two-way trade increasing steadily, reaching 1 billion USD in 2024. Cooperation in the fields of defense - security, education, culture, tourism, agriculture, labor... is increasingly effective, people-to-people exchange is increasingly close; every year, 200 Vietnamese students are granted scholarships to study in Hungary.

In the spirit of trust and mutual understanding, the President said that together with President Sulyok Tamas, he had an open, friendly and effective meeting; agreed on major orientations and specific measures to promote bilateral cooperation to develop more strongly in all fields, bringing the Comprehensive Partnership to an increasingly deeper, more substantial and effective level.

The President believes that, on the basis of the traditional friendship tested over the past 75 years, with great potential and prospects for cooperation, determination and joint efforts of the leaders and people of the two countries, the Vietnam - Hungary Comprehensive Partnership will develop strongly, for the benefit of the people of the two countries, for peace, stability and sustainable development in the region and the world.

In his response, President Sulyok Tamas expressed his sincere thanks for the warm and friendly reception that the State and people of Vietnam had given to the delegation, and the excellent results of the sincere, understanding, cooperative, and constructive talks with President Luong Cuong.

Sharing what he knew about the richness of Vietnamese culture and the affection of Vietnam for the Hungarian people, President Sulyok Tamas expressed his joy at having the opportunity to personally admire the beauty of the country and the affection of the Vietnamese people for the first time during this official visit.

President Sulyok Tamas affirmed that Vietnam is an important partner of Hungary in the fields of politics, science, culture, technology and economy; at the same time, he pointed out that mutual respect and the achievements that the two sides have jointly achieved are a solid foundation for this relationship.

The Hungarian leader stressed that the past decades have proven that the two countries are sincere and trustworthy partners, and in the context of the current complex world situation, a stable bilateral cooperative relationship like that between Hungary and Vietnam is more valuable than ever.

Assessing Vietnam's development in recent years as an example for many countries, President Sulyok Tamas said that Vietnam's economic and cultural achievements are worthy of attention; at the same time, he expressed his joy that both nations have many people attached to and caring for this friendship, understanding each other's traditions, values, rich cultures, creative potential, innovation, and economy.

President Sulyok Tamas believes that the friendship that has brought many achievements to Hungary and Vietnam will continue to develop and become closer; at the same time, he hopes to have the opportunity to welcome President Luong Cuong to visit Hungary to once again reaffirm the cooperation between the two countries.
