In an atmosphere of warm friendship, on behalf of the State and people of Vietnam, President Luong Cuong warmly welcomed Hungarian President Sulyok Tamas and his wife, along with the high-level Hungarian delegation, on their official visit to Vietnam.

The President stated that 75 years ago, Hungary was one of the first 10 countries in the world to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam, and that immense encouragement and support, during the most difficult times, helped Vietnam to have even more confidence in the inevitable victory of its just struggle.
The President affirmed that the Party, State, and people of Vietnam always remember and are grateful for the valuable support and assistance that the Hungarian people have given to Vietnam during the arduous years of struggle for independence and national reunification in the past, as well as in the current process of construction and development.

Looking back over the past seven decades, the President expressed his pleasure at seeing the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Hungary developing very positively in all fields. In particular, political relations have become increasingly trustworthy, with the two countries regularly exchanging delegations at all levels, especially at the high level; coordinating closely and supporting each other in multilateral forums and on many international issues.
Economic cooperation has developed strongly, with bilateral trade turnover steadily increasing, reaching the milestone of 1 billion USD in 2024. Cooperation in the fields of defense and security, education, culture, tourism, agriculture, labor, etc., is becoming increasingly effective, and people-to-people exchanges are becoming closer; every year, 200 Vietnamese students are awarded scholarships to study in Hungary.

In a spirit of mutual trust and understanding, the President stated that he and President Sulyok Tamas had held an open, cordial, and effective meeting; agreeing on major directions and specific measures to further promote bilateral cooperation in all fields, bringing the Comprehensive Partnership to a deeper, more substantive, and effective level.
The President expressed confidence that, building on the traditional friendship tested over the past 75 years, with the immense potential and prospects for cooperation, and the joint determination and efforts of the leaders and people of both countries, the Vietnam-Hungary Comprehensive Partnership will develop strongly, for the benefit of the people of both countries, and for peace, stability, and sustainable development in the region and the world.

In his response, President Sulyok Tamas expressed his sincere gratitude for the warm and friendly welcome extended by the State and people of Vietnam to the delegation, and for the excellent results of the sincere, understanding, cooperative, and constructive talks with President Luong Cuong.
Sharing his thoughts on the richness of Vietnamese culture and the affection Vietnam has for the Hungarian people, President Sulyok Tamas expressed his delight at having the opportunity to personally admire the beauty of the country and the warmth of the Vietnamese people for the first time during this official visit.
President Sulyok Tamas affirmed that Vietnam is an important partner of Hungary in the fields of politics, science, culture, technology, and economics; and pointed out that mutual respect and the achievements that both sides have jointly attained form a solid foundation for this relationship.

The Hungarian leader emphasized that the past decades have proven that the two countries are sincere and reliable partners, and in the context of the current complex global situation, a stable bilateral cooperation relationship like the one between Hungary and Vietnam is more valuable than ever.
Evaluating Vietnam's development over the past years as an example for many countries, President Sulyok Tamas stated that Vietnam's economic and cultural achievements deserve attention; he also expressed his pleasure that both nations have many people who cherish and nurture this friendship, understanding each other's traditions, values, rich cultures, creative potential, innovation, and economic capabilities.

President Sulyok Tamas expressed his belief that the friendly relations, which have yielded many achievements for both Hungary and Vietnam, will continue to develop and become even closer; he also hoped to have the opportunity to welcome President Luong Cuong to Hungary to reaffirm the cooperation between the two countries.
