In a friendly and open atmosphere, President Vo Van Thuong and the Austrian President announced the important results of their talks; agreeing on cooperation directions and measures to strengthen the traditional relationship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Austria.

Speaking at a press conference, Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen said that the two sides had exchanged views on many issues aimed at promoting comprehensive cooperation in various fields. The President emphasized that Vietnam is an important trading partner of Austria in the Asian and ASEAN regions, a large market and an attractive investment destination for Austrian businesses. Austria has dozens of businesses operating in Vietnam with a total investment of approximately 500 million euros.
However, both sides have much potential for continued cooperation in the coming period to achieve more practical results. In addition, Vietnam and Austria are implementing many cooperation activities in dual training, preferential loans, and cooperation between the two countries' Ministries of Foreign Affairs according to the recently signed memorandum of understanding.
President Alexander Van der Bellen emphasized that Vietnam is an important partner of the European Union (EU). In particular, the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), after being signed and coming into effect, has made a significant contribution to promoting economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and the EU in general, and between Vietnam and Austria in particular.

Furthermore, Vietnam and the EU also have cooperation programs and projects in the fields of: responding to climate change, environmental protection, and dialogue on human rights… The two sides also coordinate well in multilateral international forums, sharing a common interest in promoting multilateral cooperation and resolving conflicts based on the principle of adherence to international law.
Enhancing mutual understanding and trust.
Speaking at the press conference, President Vo Van Thuong said that after more than 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations, the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Austria are developing well and dynamically.
Austria consistently ranks among Vietnam's top 10 export markets in Europe. Vietnam is also an important trading partner for Austria in Southeast Asia. Cooperation in other areas such as culture, education, and science and technology is developing substantively and effectively.
The President expressed his belief that this visit to Austria would create new momentum, enhance mutual understanding and trust, and lay the foundation for the strong development of relations between Vietnam and Austria in the future.
The President stated that both sides had agreed on measures to further strengthen Vietnam-Austria relations in the coming period across all fields, from politics and foreign affairs; trade and investment cooperation; culture, sports, and tourism; science and technology; and people-to-people exchanges. Sharing his views on regional and international issues, the President emphasized that Vietnam pursues an independent, self-reliant, diversified, and multilateral foreign policy. Vietnam wants to be a friend and a reliable partner of all countries, and an active and responsible member of the international community.
The President said: "We all aspire to resolve all conflicts in the region and around the world on the basis of respect for the United Nations Charter and international law."
At the press conference, regarding the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the two leaders stated that both sides agreed to support a peaceful resolution of the conflict, based on respect for the United Nations Charter and international law.
