The program to support the Cuban people ended on the night of October 16, reaching a milestone of more than 555 billion VND.

The Vietnam Red Cross Central Committee said that according to the latest statistics, as of 8:00 p.m. on October 16, the program to support the Cuban people with the theme "65 years of Vietnam - Cuba friendship" had reached over 555.8 billion VND with over 2 million donations.

The campaign to support the Cuban people ended at midnight on October 16 with impressive results.

This result deeply demonstrates the spirit of solidarity, friendship and loyalty of the Vietnamese people towards the Cuban people. The program's closing ceremony will be held on October 18.

"Just over two months ago, when the Vietnam Red Cross launched the program "65 years of Vietnam - Cuba friendship", we together opened a special journey - a journey of kindness, gratitude and steadfast loyalty between the two peoples. Although the program has ended, the friendship will remain forever..." - shared the Vietnam Red Cross.

The program is held for 65 days, from August 13 to October 16, with the goal of raising at least 65 billion VND to help the Cuban people overcome some of their difficulties.

Previously, right after the national launching ceremony on August 13 in Hanoi , the campaign quickly received widespread response from all walks of life. Through online campaign channels, the campaign achieved the goal of raising at least 65 billion VND in just 30 hours.

Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Red Cross Society Nguyen Hai Anh said: On October 3, during his official visit to Vietnam, President of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo Hernandez said that the money raised to support the Cuban people was partly used to solve the problem of equipment in electricity transmission and distribution. This is the most urgent issue, affecting the daily life of the Cuban people the most. In the coming time, the Vietnam Red Cross Society will continue to update information on specific support activities from the Vietnamese people's resources for the Cuban people, thereby further spreading the spirit of solidarity and friendship between the two nations.

According to Mr. Nguyen Hai Anh, this is the first time an international campaign of the Vietnam Red Cross Society has achieved a scale of millions of donations and hundreds of billions of VND in a record short time. The timely and transparent information about the amount of donations, the number of donations, and the support and companionship of central and local press agencies, the media channels of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, and social networking sites (in Vietnamese, Spanish and English) have contributed to the strong dissemination of the Program.

The year 2025 marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cuba (1960 - 2025). The program "65 years of Vietnam - Cuba friendship" is an opportunity for the Vietnamese people to express their respect and loyal affection for the Cuban people; at the same time, it is an opportunity to further strengthen the traditional friendship, contributing to consolidating peace, cooperation and sustainable development.
