The first flight brings Japanese tourists from Hokkaido to Van Don airport

On the afternoon of November 16, a delegation from Hokkaido province (Japan) led by Mr. Suzuki Naomichi, Governor of Hokkaido province, landed at Van Don International Airport. This is also the first flight connecting two localities with rich tourism potential.

Flight VN9891 departed at 7:30 a.m. on November 16 from Chitose Airport (Hokkaido Province) and landed at 2:10 p.m. the same day at Van Don International Airport, carrying 274 passengers including a delegation from Hokkaido Province and representatives of Japanese businesses.

The delegation's visit is part of the Hokkaido Festival in Ha Long in 2023, held on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations and the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Quang Ninh province.

The event also aims to concretize the Exchange and Cooperation Agreement between Hokkaido Province and Quang Ninh Province signed on September 9, 2022; at the same time, build and develop friendly exchange and cooperation relations between the two provinces, thereby enhancing mutual understanding and trust, promoting in-depth cooperation in areas of strength of both sides.

At the welcoming ceremony, representatives of Quang Ninh province and Van Don International Airport invited the leaders of the Hokkaido delegation to meet and discuss and introduce Van Don International Airport, as well as the potential, number of visitors for trade and tourism exchange between the two sides.

The Governor of Hokkaido expressed his joy and surprise when the first flight connecting Hokkaido - Van Don was fully booked, proving that the Japanese people's interest in Quang Ninh in particular and Vietnam in general is very great.

Representatives of Van Don International Airport also shared their hope that the authorities of Hokkaido and Quang Ninh provinces would have a mechanism to support airlines in opening direct flights connecting the two localities.

The Hokkaido Festival in Ha Long 2023 is one of the activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan (September 21, 1973 - September 21, 2023) and the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Quang Ninh province (October 30, 1963 - October 30, 2023).

During the festival (from November 16 to 19), there will be 17 diverse activities organized: Memorandum of Understanding signing talks, investment promotion conferences, seminars, diplomatic programs of the Japan - Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance of Hokkaido Provincial Council with Quang Ninh Provincial People's Council; launching the Japanese Language and Culture Center at Ha Long University; sightseeing and survey in Quang Ninh; friendly golf tournament and a number of exchange and cooperation activities between agencies and functional units of the two provinces...

The Hokkaido Festival 2023 will open at 8:00 p.m. tomorrow (November 17) at October 30 Square (Hong Hai Ward, Ha Long City), with the participation of about 6,000 people.
