Tu Du Hospital's second facility is ready to serve the people of Can Gio and neighboring areas.

On November 1, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health announced that implementing the Can Gio Health Capacity Improvement Project, the second facility of Tu Du Hospital with the model of a joint general hospital has just officially come into operation. This is a public hospital, using the existing infrastructure of the Can Gio Medical Center, operating according to the second facility model.

Tu Du Hospital Facility 2 is linked with many leading general and specialized hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City to improve the quality of medical examination and treatment for people in Can Gio and neighboring areas.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, Can Gio is a coastal area, where people still face many difficulties in accessing high-quality medical services. This locality is in the process of developing its marine economy , tourism and seaports. Putting into operation a high-quality general hospital not only meets medical needs and ensures social security, but also contributes to building a health care infrastructure to serve socio-economic development, attracting experts and residents.

Tu Du Hospital will be responsible for implementing the joint general hospital model, in charge of obstetrics and gynecology, and managing and operating the entire facility 2. Other specialties will be handled by hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City.

Specifically, the hospitals: Children's Hospital, Le Van Thinh Hospital, Eye Hospital, Dental Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City, Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City, Dermatology Hospital, Rehabilitation Hospital and Occupational Disease Hospital will send professional staff to be in charge of clinical departments and rotate specialist doctors to work at the second facility of Tu Du Hospital.

In addition to medical examination and treatment, Tu Du Hospital's second facility also supports remote consultation and consultation with health stations; participates in preventive medicine programs, primary health care and develops the grassroots health network.

On May 8, 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued a decision on the Project "Consolidating, enhancing capacity and developing healthcare in Can Gio district to 2030, with a vision to 2045". The goal of the project is to improve the capacity, quality and ability to provide healthcare services, meet people's healthcare needs, and contribute to the implementation of socio-economic development goals of Ho Chi Minh City.

According to the project, a public hospital in Ho Chi Minh City will be selected as the second facility, with a scale of about 300 beds, using the existing infrastructure of Can Gio Medical Center (formerly Can Gio District Hospital).
