Identifying tea trees as a typical advantage of Thai Nguyen, in 2023, the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province ordered and assigned the University of Agriculture and Forestry to carry out the project "Research and develop a process of raising pigs for meat from natural food supplemented with Thai Nguyen green tea ingredients", the implementation period is from June 2023 to June 2025.
During the implementation of the project, the research team experimented with adding different levels of green tea leaf powder to the pork diet to select the optimal formula that brings the highest value to the product.
From the research results, experimental models were developed at households and cooperatives. The end of the experiment showed that pigs have good growth ability, better meat quality than other traditional farming methods and initially received good reviews from consumers.

Speaking at the Conference, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Loan commended and highly appreciated the efforts of the University of Agriculture and Forestry and the research team for excellently completing the assigned tasks.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed: The results of the Project are evidence of the effective combination of science and technology with the province's strong agricultural products, in line with the orientation of developing green and sustainable agriculture. The green tea pork product being granted a trademark certificate will contribute to the exclusive legal protection, increase the prestige and reliability of the product, create competitive advantages and expand the market, and at the same time contribute to promoting the image of Thai Nguyen tea.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the relevant departments and branches to research and propose policies to accompany and expand the scale of livestock farming in cooperatives, enterprises and households; the University of Agriculture and Forestry is researching to incorporate the process into the practical curriculum. The cooperatives are implementing a model of organizing booths to display and promote products processed from green tea pork to introduce at the "Thai Nguyen - Fragrance and beauty of tea" Festival to be held by the province in December.
