At the exhibition and forum on technology and innovation for the HORECA (hotel - restaurant - culinary services) industry in 2025, for the first time, advanced robots being applied in the hotel, restaurant and tourism industry were introduced to the public.
That is Epson's 4D Mapping Immersive technology with vivid visual and lighting effects, 3D Virtual virtual reality experience, MetaQuest & Samsung simulating future hotels and restaurants, and hologram fog screen combined with laser mapping to create spectacular visual effects.
In addition, service robots, artificial intelligence (AI) facial recognition, smart check-in with Bose & WorkPro livestream system and many utilities such as automatic coffee machines, Galaxy Pay charging stations... bring a comprehensive experience to users.
All of these systems are deployed with a total value of more than 42 billion VND, aiming to bring the most vivid, realistic and practical experience to businesses; at the same time, helping the HORECA industry in Vietnam to be ready to enter the stage of comprehensive digital transformation.
According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Quynh, Chairman of HorecaFex Vietnam, Vice Chairman of Vietnam Hotel Association, currently, 5-star hotels are applying advanced technologies in services and reception; achieving many efficiency, meeting the increasing needs of tourists. The wave of technology application in the hotel industry is increasingly promoted, aiming to improve the competitiveness and balance of Da Nang with other destinations in Asia.
Sharing the same view, Ms. Do Thi Hong Xoan, President of the Vietnam Hotel Association, said that Vietnam tourism is entering a period of strong transformation. In the first 6 months of the year, Vietnam welcomed 10.6 million international visitors (up 20.7% over the same period in 2024), served 77.5 million domestic tourists, and total tourism revenue reached 518 trillion VND.
However, the tourism and hotel industry is also entering a “new race” - requiring innovation in thinking, flexibility in strategy and more drastic action than ever. To improve its competitive position, the 3 pillars being positioned for the hotel industry in Vietnam in the coming period need to be focused on: technology - comprehensive digital transformation; sustainable development associated with responsible tourism and redefining the customer experience.
Using technology is an inevitable trend for the hotel industry, but mastering new technology is also something that hotel - restaurant - food service businesses need to pay attention to.
According to Mr. Cao Tri Dung, interim Chairman of the Da Nang City Tourism Association, to increase competitiveness, businesses need to proactively promote the effective application of AI and ChatGPT in daily work; innovate thinking, strongly transform digitally in operations and marketing; and constantly improve the quality of human resources to meet the increasing demands of new technology.
“The human resources in the tourism sector of Da Nang are guaranteed in both quantity and quality. However, in the context of a rapidly changing market, investing in advanced and modern technological equipment and investing in people to apply that technology to serve customers will play a key role in strategic orientation, promoting innovation and sustainable development for the hotel - restaurant - culinary service industry in particular and increasing the competitive position of Da Nang with other destinations in general,” Mr. Cao Tri Dung analyzed.
