Periodic repairs on many sections of Noi Bai Expressway at the end of February 2025

Many sections of the Noi Bai - Lao Cai highway will be periodically maintained and repaired from the end of February.

Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) said that the enterprise has just completed the signing of the selection of contractors to carry out the packages of repairing damaged road surfaces and traffic safety systems on the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway.

According to VEC, the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway construction project has a total length of 245km, passing through 5 provinces and cities: Hanoi, Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho, Yen Bai and Lao Cai with a scale of 4 lanes for the Noi Bai - Yen Bai section and 2 lanes for the Yen Bai - Lao Cai section.

After more than 10 years of completion and operation of the expressway, with strong growth in traffic volume, especially heavy trucks, many sections of the route have been damaged and show signs of degradation.

To ensure safe operation of the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway, VEC pays special attention to timely repair and maintenance of degraded and damaged items.

Currently, VEC has completed the signing of contractor selection and mobilized the implementation of bid packages to repair damaged road surfaces and traffic safety systems along the entire route.

Contractors are urgently mobilizing personnel, machinery, and equipment to simultaneously carry out repairs by the end of February 2025.

Specifically, there are 2 bid packages for periodic repair of damaged road surfaces and major traffic safety systems including: section Km 0+00 - Km 123+00 and section Km 123+00 - Km 244+155.

9 packages for repairing damaged road surfaces and other traffic safety systems include the following sections: Km 93+000 - Km 106+206; Km 123+066 - Km 136+470); Km 142+000 - Km 160+400; Km 171+000 - Km 190+450; Km 191+200 - Km 217+000; Km 229+100 - Km 243+100; Km 0+00 - Km 123+080, Km 123+080 - Km 244+150 and section Km 77+645 - Km 85+975.

VEC is also implementing investment procedures to overhaul the Noi Bai - Yen Bai section (Km0-Km 123+080).

In order to meet the transportation demand and promote the efficiency of exploitation, VEC has submitted to the competent authority a plan to expand the Yen Bai - Lao Cai section with a total length of more than 121km (Km 123+090 - Km 244+155), with a complete investment scale of 4 lanes. The total investment is more than 7,600 billion VND, of which VEC mobilizes more than 4,600 billion VND and the State budget capital is more than 3,000 billion VND.

VEC aims to start construction of the Yen Bai - Lao Cai expressway expansion project in the fourth quarter of 2025.
