Compensation has been settled for fishing boats damaged in the major fire.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, after assessing property damage, insurance companies have now settled compensation for 10 fishing boat owners who suffered losses in the major fire at a boat repair and building workshop in Phu Hai - Phan Thiet City.

Accordingly, Bao Minh Binh Thuan Company has completed the assessment of losses and related documents/certificates, and settled compensation for 3 ship owners involved in the fire, including fishing vessels: BTh- 95239-TS of ship owner Dang Van Ben (Long Hai, Phu Quy); BTh- 96789-TS of ship owner Le Chau Seafood Company Limited (Xuan An, Phan Thiet); BTh- 99897-TS of ship owner Nguyen Thanh Truong (Long Hai, Phan Thiet). Bao Viet Binh Thuan Company has completed the settlement of compensation for 6 ship owners involved in the fire, including fishing vessels: BTh- 99141-TS of ship owner Nguyen Khiem (Long Hai, Phu Quy); BTh- 95689-TS of ship owner Tran Thanh Hung (Long Hai, Phu Quy); BTh- 96652-TS of ship owner Vo Tu (Long Hai, Phu Quy); BTh-97399-TS of Vo Minh Tao (Long Hai, Phu Quy); BTh-99981-TS and BTh-97181-TS of the same owner Nguyen Huu (Tam Thanh, Phu Quy).

In the case of an uninsured fishing boat that had an accident, BTh-97229-TS owned by Mr. Nguyen Ho (Phu Hai, Phan Thiet) has agreed to compensate the owner of the boat building and repair facility and has been facilitated by the authorities to repair and overcome the damage so that the fishing boat can soon be put into production.

It is known that on December 7, 2023, at Phan Thiet Shipbuilding and Repair Company Limited located in Quarter 2, Phu Hai Ward, Phan Thiet City, a major fire broke out, causing damage to 10 fishing boats that were being repaired and watered. Of the 10 damaged fishing boats, 3 were insured by Bao Minh Company, 6 were insured by Bao Viet Binh Thuan Company, and 1 was not insured. Regarding the incident, the Provincial Police Investigation Agency has proposed to prosecute the accused Hang Phi Ho (26 years old, residing in Quarter 2, Phu Hai Ward, Phan Thiet City, a welder) for the crime of "Violating regulations on fire prevention and fighting" under Article 313 of the Penal Code.
