Da Nang proposes to review policies to support businesses

Da Nang City is currently implementing 38 central government policies to support businesses and 17 specific city-level policies. However, some policies have not been implemented effectively, and not many businesses have benefited from them.

On May 8th, the Da Nang City People's Council's monitoring delegation held a working session with the City's Department of Planning and Investment regarding the implementation of policies to support businesses in Da Nang.

According to the Da Nang City Department of Planning and Investment, the city is currently implementing 38 central government support policies and 17 specific local policies.

Over the past period, many practical policies have been implemented to meet the needs of businesses, such as policies on capital, interest rates, taxes, fees, and charges, thereby providing timely support to help businesses overcome difficulties, restore, and expand production and business.

However, the implementation of policies to support businesses still faces difficulties and limitations. Some policies have not been implemented effectively, and not many businesses have benefited from them.

Furthermore, some policies have delayed implementation, resulting in a failure to alleviate the burden on businesses in a timely manner; the regulations for receiving support are complex, with many procedures and strict criteria, making it difficult for businesses to qualify. During the policy implementation process, some support measures are no longer relevant to current practices or regulations.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Tran Phuoc Son, Standing Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Council, suggested reviewing the business support policies currently being implemented in the city.

Accordingly, what central government policies are currently being implemented, to what extent are businesses benefiting, are there any shortcomings, and what adjustments need to be proposed? The city's specific support policies also need to be reviewed and evaluated in detail.

Mr. Tran Phuoc Son suggested that, based on a review and evaluation of business support policies, the City People's Council should be proposed to issue a new policy that integrates policies aimed at supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which account for 98% of businesses in Da Nang.

This policy encompasses support activities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), ranging from interest rate subsidies, technology, human resource development, innovation, and conversion from household businesses to enterprises… In addition, there are policies for the rural agricultural sector (cooperatives, OCOP products).

Regarding interest rate support policies, Mr. Tran Phuoc Son suggested focusing on businesses in sectors aligned with the city's development orientation, such as high technology, semiconductors, and social infrastructure investment projects.
