According to reports at the summary conference, after Da Nang was liberated (March 29, 1975), the army and guerrillas continuously organized forces to clear, dismantle, and clean up most of the contaminated areas. However, the bombs, mines, and unexploded ordnance still buried in the ground and in some places had not yet been removed, causing many tragic deaths, lifelong injuries to many people, and affecting the lives of many victims and their families.

According to statistics, since 1975, 52 people have died in Da Nang due to encountering landmines while working; in 2021 alone, there have been 2 fatalities.

Established on August 25, 2015, the Da Nang City Association for Supporting the Remediation of Bomb and Mine Consequences has continuously expanded its organization, developed its membership network, and established branches at the grassroots level. Simultaneously, it conducts investigations and surveys to compile a list of victims and identify areas still at risk of bomb and mine contamination.

With the spirit of "leaving no one behind," the Association proactively mobilized organizations, businesses, and philanthropists to join hands in supporting victims. As a result, after 10 years, the total amount of money raised reached 1.525 billion VND. From this resource, the Association has donated 30 cows, 2 motorbikes, 2 sugarcane juice carts, 66 savings accounts, built 1 house of compassion, and provided thousands of practical support packages to affected families...

In the coming period, the association aims to further strengthen its organization, improve its staff, and enhance geographical assignments to better reflect the actual situation.

At the same time, organize a new survey, update the list of victims and areas at risk of landmines, and strengthen propaganda work, especially in schools, to raise community awareness about the dangers of landmines and the significance of the national program to overcome the consequences of war.

The association also continues to call for the cooperation of individuals, businesses, and organizations both domestically and internationally to help landmine victims overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.
