According to the announcement of Hanoi University of Science and Technology on December 4, the registration time for the first round of the thinking assessment test is from 9:00 a.m. on December 5 to 5:00 p.m. on December 15. The official test date will take place on January 24-25, 2026.
Hanoi University of Science and Technology said the total number of seats for this round is expected to be about 25,000 candidates.
The exam takes place in 11 provinces and cities including: Hanoi, Hai Phong, Hung Yen, Quang Ninh, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Thai Nguyen, Lao Cai, Da Nang .

In 2026, the Hanoi University of Science and Technology's thinking assessment exam is expected to be held in 3 rounds, each round will have 3-4 testing teams.
The test remains stable in structure, consisting of 3 sections: Mathematical Thinking (60 minutes), Reading Comprehension (30 minutes) and Scientific Thinking/Problem Solving (60 minutes). These are 3 independent sections, the test questions will focus on assessing the candidate's thinking ability in each section, not directly testing the knowledge of any subject.
The test will be in the form of multiple choice tests on computers, and the results will be valid for 2 years for university admission purposes.
In 2025, Hanoi University of Science and Technology will also organize 3 rounds of exams. The exam will have more than 28,000 candidates with nearly 57,000 exams.
The average score of all candidates was 55.23/100. Vu Minh Duc, a 12th grade Math 2 student at Bac Ninh Specialized High School, became valedictorian with 98.61/100 points, a record for the exam.
