On the morning of July 1st, the Steering Committee for the 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities of Lao Cai Province, 2024, held a meeting to report on the progress and results of implementing the contents and tasks of the congress.

Comrade Giàng Thị Dung, Vice Chairperson of the Provincial People's Committee, chaired the meeting.
The meeting was attended by members of the Steering Committee for the Congress, and members of the subcommittees assisting the 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities of Lao Cai Province, 2024.
According to the report at the meeting, based on the directives from the Central Government and the guidance from the Committee for Ethnic Minorities Affairs, the Provincial People's Committee issued a plan to direct the congress, decided to establish a Steering Committee and sub-committees to assist the Steering Committee; the Standing Committee and relevant agencies guided localities in implementing the plan; and localities proactively developed plans and established Steering Committees to organize the implementation.
To date, all 9 districts, towns, and cities have successfully held their district-level congresses of ethnic minority representatives. The congresses took place in a solemn and enthusiastic atmosphere, with thorough preparation; delegates attended in large numbers and with the correct composition. The provincial-level congress is expected to be held in August 2024.



At the meeting, delegates focused on discussing and agreeing on several issues, including: the congress program; the Presidium and Secretariat; propaganda, cultural and artistic activities, and ceremonial decorations; the exhibition space for local specialty products; emulation and reward activities; and security matters.
Concluding the meeting, Ms. Giang Thi Dung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, acknowledged and highly appreciated the proactive spirit of the Standing Committee of the Steering Committee and the localities in advising, directing, guiding, and implementing the preparatory work for the congress, ensuring it proceeded according to the plan.

To ensure the Provincial Congress of Ethnic Minorities achieves its objectives, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested: The Provincial Ethnic Affairs Committee should continue to closely follow the requirements and tasks as directed by the Committee for Ethnic Minorities Affairs, review the program framework; coordinate with members of the Steering Committee to develop a specific and detailed scenario and plan for preparing the congress; and assign specific responsibilities to agencies, units, and localities in coordinating, supervising, and supporting the preparation for the congress.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also emphasized the role of propaganda in affirming the Party and State's concern for ethnic minorities. Media agencies and localities need to strengthen information and propaganda about the congress to create an atmosphere of excitement among the people; Lao Cai Newspaper and the Provincial Radio and Television Station should focus on extensive propaganda, developing special features and pages highlighting exemplary individuals and groups in learning, labor, and production in ethnic minority areas, making important contributions to socio -economic development and strengthening national unity in the province.
