On April 20, after a year of construction, the Dien Bien Air Traffic Control Station was inaugurated on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory. This is one of the key projects with an investment of 93 billion VND from the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation.
Dien Bien Air Traffic Control Tower is located in the central area of Dien Bien Airport, ensuring visibility to areas on the new runway, key areas, taxiways, aprons and areas adjacent to the airport.
The project meets international standards, meeting the requirements for safe - smooth - efficient flight operations; at the same time, ensuring the provision of 24/7 flight operations services including airport control, ground control, and military flight operations control for all flights to/from Dien Bien Airport and the Northwest region at present and ensuring the response to increased flight traffic in the future.
The newly built Dien Bien Air Traffic Control Tower has a total area of 6,150m², symbolizing the general image, associated with the typical images of Dien Bien province. The 36m high air traffic control tower has an area of 62.5m², designed with 5 sturdy edges, the tower body is divided into 5 petals, stylized from the image of Ban flower - a flower with pure beauty in the Northwest mountains and forests, is the highlight of the architecture and landscape at the airport area.
The interior of the air traffic control cabin is spacious, ensuring enough working space for the forces participating in flight operations of both civil and military aviation at the same time.
The management and guest house area has an area of nearly 735m², inspired by the historic victory of Dien Bien Phu, stylized from the command bunker model of the Dien Bien Phu stronghold group (Ham Do - Cat), with a dome shape, creating a harmonious whole with the mountain and hill scenery around Dien Bien airport.
The overall project is an important highlight of Dien Bien Airport, giving Dien Bien Airport a new look, worthy of the historical site of Dien Bien Phu Hero. The project is being proposed to have a signboard to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory.
