Artists Dai Nghia and Dinh Toan in the play "Oh, Gold, Oh Gold"
On the evening of January 20th, the IDECAF Theatre premiered the comedy "Oh, Gold, Oh Gold" (written by Nguyen Quoc, directed by Hung Lam).
This is a play that was staged and became a box office success, titled "The Golden Box," 20 years ago.
And when impresario Huynh Anh Tuan decided to revive this satirical comedy and include it in the repertoire for the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Dragon, it was met with enthusiastic response from the audience.

Now, during rehearsals, director Hung Lam has invested heavily in integrating the core message of the script into the rhythm of today's era.
The differences lie in the staging, from scenery and music to lighting, as well as the young cast replacing the veteran artists who once performed in "The Golden Box," such as Thanh Loc, Huu Chau, Thanh Thuy, Tu Trinh, Tuan Khoi, and Hoang Trinh…
The new theater scene features a cast of highly trained or self-taught artists, including now big names at the IDECAF Theater such as Dai Nghia, Dinh Toan, Hong Anh, Quoc Thinh, Quang Thao, Hoa Hiep, Phi Nga…
It was the diversity in their performances that helped the play "Oh, Gold, Oh Gold" gain popularity with audiences.
The satirical story in the play "Oh, Gold!" brings charming and meaningful laughter.
In particular, in the folk comedy adapted from a foreign work, the roles of Mr. Khiet (played by Dinh Toan) and Chuot (played by Dai Nghia) made the audience laugh uncontrollably with their subtle and clever performances.
In addition, there is strong support from Quoc Thinh (playing Chung), Phi Nga (playing the Kitchen Sister), Tra Ngoc (playing Thuy), Hoai Trang (playing Hau), Hong Anh (playing the matchmaker Duyen), and Quang Thao (playing Mr. Chanh).

Because the script was adapted from a foreign play, and the storyline was already laid out by previous generations of artists, the actors participating in the play "Oh, Gold, Oh Gold" were able to freely unleash many new creative ideas.
They brought each scene to life, delivering laughter through the story of Mr. Kiet, a stingy man who valued gold and silver but forgot that his greatest treasure was his children.
What today's generation of actors has achieved is maintaining a steady audience, keeping the IDECAF theater lights up with a planned 29 performances throughout the Lunar New Year season of the Year of the Dragon.
The play "Gold, Oh Gold" is currently a hot item, with very high ticket sales before Tet (Lunar New Year) thanks to audiences booking tickets through social media. Artists Dai Nghia and Dinh Toan are working tirelessly to steer the nearly 30-year-old theater in a new direction, ensuring this momentum continues while rejuvenating the cast and rejuvenating the "IDECAF Theater" brand.
