This was a match where Mexico dominated, controlling possession for over 60% of the time and unleashing more than 20 shots towards the goal defended by goalkeeper Matt Freese (USA).

But it was the home team, the USA, who took the lead in the 4th minute. From a free kick near the halfway line, Berhalter delivered an accurate cross for Chris Richards to head the ball past Mexico goalkeeper Luis Malagon... 1-0 for the USA.

However, after scoring, the home team retreated into defense too early, giving Mexico the opportunity to completely control the game. In the 27th minute, Mexico equalized 1-1 thanks to Raul Jimenez's thunderous shot from inside the penalty area, sending the ball straight into the top corner.

Mexico continued to press for the remainder of the match and scored another goal in the 77th minute, after a precise header from Edson Alvarez, making the score 2-1. This was also the decisive goal that secured Mexico's victory.

This is Mexico's second consecutive championship, and their 13th title in history. In addition to the team title, Mexico also won two individual awards: Best Player of the tournament (Edson Alvarez) and Best Goalkeeper (Luis Malagon).
