On November 1st, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Cooperative Alliance conducted an inspection and evaluation of the effectiveness of the project "Building a breeding process for indigenous Muscovy ducks in a linked chain in Tri Nang commune," funded by Project 2 on diversifying livelihoods and developing poverty reduction models, under the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction in 2023.
The Provincial Cooperative Union, in coordination with the Lang Chánh District People's Committee and the lead agency, conducted an inspection and evaluation of the native Muscovy duck farming model in Trí Nang commune.
From June to August 2024, the Provincial Cooperative Union, in coordination with the Lang Chanh District People's Committee and the leading cooperative, Vinaco Agricultural Investment and Development Cooperative, organized training on livestock farming processes and techniques, and methods of product distribution and sales. Simultaneously, they distributed 5,019 Muscovy ducklings and over 17.56 tons of mixed feed to 113 households in Tri Nang commune.
According to the report from the coordinating unit, after more than two months of implementation, the supported ducks are growing and developing steadily, meeting the project's requirements. At the same time, it has brought practical economic and social benefits to the people.

The total number of Muscovy ducks distributed met the standards for breeding stock and were vaccinated according to regulations, resulting in good growth and development, with a survival rate of over 96%. Currently, in some households, the Muscovy ducks have reached a weight of 1.5-2kg, meeting the standards for commercial ducks. In addition, for households maintaining flocks of ducks for egg production, the coordinating unit has established connections and found outlets for the farmers' products.
Delegates and farmers participating in the project all agreed that this duck farming model adheres to biosafety standards and is suitable for the local people's customs and production level. The model is expected to yield higher economic returns compared to traditional farming methods. Simultaneously, it will contribute to changing production mindsets, increasing income, and helping local people escape poverty sustainably.
