Russian President Vladimir Putin chaired a meeting of the Federal Security Council on June 28. Speaking at the meeting, Putin mentioned that Russia should restart production of medium- and shorter-range missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads. According to the leader, Russia had committed not to deploy these missiles, but the US had restarted production and deployed them to Denmark and the Philippines, therefore Moscow must also take retaliatory action. Former US President Donald Trump (left) and current President Joe Biden participated in the first debate on June 27, ahead of the November election. The two candidates from the Democratic and Republican parties strongly attacked each other when arguing about a series of issues, from the economy , abortion, immigration to conflicts in Ukraine and the Gaza Strip.
