According to the schedule, on January 5th, candidates will take written exams in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature, History, Geography, English, Russian, French, Chinese, and a computer programming exam in Informatics.
On January 6th, candidates continued with written exams in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology; oral exams in English, Russian, French, and Chinese; and a computer programming exam in Informatics.
The total number of candidates participating in the national-level excellent student selection exam for the 2023-2024 school year is 5,819, an increase of 1,230 candidates compared to the previous year. Of the 12 subjects in this exam, Literature and English have the highest number of candidates, with 648 and 639 candidates respectively. The exam will be conducted by 68 examination boards with a total of 403 examination rooms.
Previously, on October 10, 2023, the Ministry of Education and Training issued a Circular on the Regulations for the National Excellent Student Selection Examination with many new points. Among them, the regulations stipulate that the maximum number of candidates for each subject in each unit is 10, except for Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, which are limited to 20 candidates.
This regulation also stipulates that instead of organizing a practical exam in the national excellent student selection exam, the exam questions in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology will include questions requiring candidates to solve problems using knowledge related to experimental and practical skills.
The new regulations also increase the percentage of students winning prizes in the national-level excellent student selection exam, ensuring compliance with the regulations of regional and international Olympiads. Accordingly, 60% of students will win prizes from the Encouragement Prize upwards (compared to 50% in previous years); of which, the total number of First, Second, and Third prizes will not exceed 60% of the total number of prizes, and the number of First prizes will not exceed 5% of the total number of prizes.
