According to Mr. Tran Van Thuc, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Thanh Hoa , in the 2024 - 2025 school year, Lam Son High School for the Gifted will enroll 12 classes with 420 students (35 students/class), specifically: specialized in Math, specialized in Literature and specialized in English (2 classes for each major); specialized in Physics, specialized in Chemistry, specialized in Biology, specialized in Information Technology, specialized in History and specialized in Geography (1 class for each major).

For the IT specialized class, there will be 25 quotas for candidates whose specialized subject is IT; 10 quotas for candidates whose specialized subject is Math for the IT specialized class.

Each candidate must take 3 general exams (Literature, Math and English) and 1 specialized exam according to their registered wishes. Candidates who register for the exam and are admitted to a specialized class must take the specialized exam prescribed for that specialized class. For the specialized class in Information Technology, candidates can choose to take the exam in Information Technology or Mathematics (for Information Technology).

Time for general subjects is 120 minutes for Literature and Math; 60 minutes for English; and 150 minutes for the remaining specialized subjects.

All exams are in essay format. The English exam includes listening skills; the IT exam is in computer programming format.

Exams are scored on a 10-point scale; exam scoring coefficient: general subject exam has coefficient 1; specialized subject exam has coefficient 2.
