This ambitious project proposal was recently submitted by Amadive Tourism Services Co., Ltd. to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism and related units.

The Sheng Li shipwreck will be transformed into an artificial coral reef.

According to Amadive's proposal, the company suggests sinking the Sheng Li ship to create a high-end and unique diving spot in the Con Dao sea area. This would help attract domestic and international tourists, develop green tourism, and promote nature experiences in Con Dao.

Amadive believes the project will contribute to enhancing the tourism value of Con Dao. According to Amadive, the shipwreck diving site will be a unique and distinctive tourism product, attracting high-end customers, thereby creating more room for growth and generating better quality jobs for local people.

The shipwreck will be transformed into an artificial coral reef, providing shelter and breeding grounds for many marine species, contributing to increased biodiversity.

Amadive believes that creating an attractive diving spot could help reduce pressure on natural coral reefs, allowing them to recover and thrive more sustainably.

"Amadive is committed to implementing this project in accordance with legal procedures and regulations, ensuring maritime safety, environmental protection, and the preservation of the marine landscape. We have conducted thorough research on the technical and economic aspects of the project and are confident in its feasibility and the long-term benefits it will bring to Con Dao in particular and the Vietnamese tourism industry in general," the company stated in the document.

Amadive also hopes that the authorities will consider approving the project and provide guidance on completing the necessary legal procedures, creating favorable conditions for implementation and contributing to the sustainable development of Con Dao's marine tourism.

Approve the auction plan.

Sheng Li is a refrigerated cargo ship, built in 2002, with a width of 8.5 m, a length of 52 m, and an estimated deadweight of 12,000 tons.

Currently, this ship is old, rusty, severely damaged, and unusable. Sheng Li has been approved by the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province (formerly) for auctioning off its remains with the aim of recovering scrap metal.

Sheng Li is currently anchored in a storm shelter for fishing boats off Con Dao Island. According to Amadive, the ship is notable for its large size and numerous compartments and cargo holds. If sunk, it would open up the potential for diverse and high-level diving expeditions…
