Proposed planning to expand Cat Bi airport

Accordingly, in the period of 2021-2030, Cat Bi International Airport will have a level 4E airport and a level 1 military airport; capacity of 13 million passengers/year and 250,000 tons of cargo/year; total number of aircraft parking positions is 30 positions; aircraft types are code C such as A320/A321, code E such as B747/B777/B787/A350 and equivalent.

During this period, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam proposed to maintain the existing Passenger Terminal T1; build a new Passenger Terminal (T2) with 2 elevations in the area east of the existing Passenger Terminal. The total capacity of Passenger Terminal T1 and Passenger Terminal T2 is 13 million passengers/year.

Vision to 2050, Cat Bi International Airport has a 4E airport level and a level 1 military airport; capacity of 18 million passengers/year and 500,000 tons of cargo/year; total number of aircraft parking positions is 50 positions; aircraft types are code C such as A320/A321, code E such as B747/B777/B787/A350 and equivalent.

In addition, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam proposed to study, select options and implement the expansion of the passenger terminal to increase the total capacity to 18 million passengers/year; build a general aviation terminal in the area south of runway 2 when needed.

Regarding the cargo terminal, in the period of 2021-2030, a cargo terminal will be built on the land west of Passenger Terminal T1, with an area of ​​about 23,500m2, a capacity of about 100,000 tons of cargo/year, with the ability to expand to meet the capacity of about 250,000 tons of cargo/year when needed.
