The special thing about the 2 champion teams of the Ngo boat racing in Soc Trang

Two male and female boat teams from Tum Nup Pagoda in Chau Thanh District, Soc Trang Province received the championship cup and a prize of 200 million VND for the male team and 150 million VND for the female team. This is the second consecutive time that both the male and female teams of this unit have won the championship cup.

On the afternoon of November 15, the Ngo boat race within the framework of the 6th Ooc Om Boc Festival in Soc Trang province, Mekong Delta region ended successfully.

The men's boat team from Tum Nup 2 pagoda (blue shirt) broke away to the finish line.

As a result, the championship cup and a prize of 200 million VND were awarded to the boat team of Tum Nup 2 pagoda (Chau Thanh district, Soc Trang province). This is the second consecutive time that this pagoda has had a winning boat.

Second prize of 150 million VND belongs to the boat team of Kos Thum pagoda ( Bac Lieu ); Third prize of 100 million VND belongs to the boat team of Srô Lon pagoda (My Xuyen district, Soc Trang) and Fourth prize of 80 million VND belongs to the boat team of Monisrackeo pagoda (Thanh Tri district, Soc Trang province).

The women's boat teams received trophies and prizes.

In the women's race, the female boat team of Tum Nup Pagoda (Chau Thanh district, Soc Trang) excellently won the championship for the second consecutive time with a prize of 150 million VND;

Second prize with a prize of 100 million VND belongs to Prek Chek Pagoda (Nga Nam town, Soc Trang); Third prize with a prize of 80 million VND belongs to Kos Thum Pagoda (Bac Lieu province) and fourth prize with 50 million VND belongs to the boat team of Kbal KroPoi Pagoda (Bac Lieu province).

In addition, the organizers also awarded prizes to the first and second place teams and the winners of each round.

Dragon boat racing is a sport very popular with people in the West.

This year’s race has 60 boat teams (including 53 men’s teams and 7 women’s teams). Of which, Soc Trang province has 48 teams (45 men’s teams and 3 women’s teams). Bac Lieu, Ca Mau, Can Tho, Hau Giang, Kien Giang provinces have 12 boat teams (8 men’s teams and 4 women’s teams).

The race featured about 7,200 male and female athletes. The men's boat teams competed in the 1,200m distance and the women's boat teams in the 1,000m distance.

On November 14-15, at the Ngo boat racing track on Maspero River, Ward 8 (Soc Trang City), the male and female boat teams competed enthusiastically and passionately in the cheers and encouragement of tens of thousands of spectators.
