According to the plan, the UNESCO expert team will conduct field visits to 26 out of 38 tourist sites along the four tourist routes of Lang Son Geopark in the districts of Bac Son, Binh Gia, Van Quan, Huu Lung, Chi Lang, Cao Loc, Loc Binh and Lang Son city.
Informing the UNESCO expert delegation, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Lang Son Provincial People's Committee, Duong Xuan Huyen, emphasized that the province has identified tourism as a key economic sector. Therefore, in recent years, Lang Son has invested in building technical infrastructure for several potential tourist areas and sites, including the Lang Son Geopark.
The province has also issued many policies and mechanisms to create a favorable investment environment; and promoted administrative reforms, especially administrative procedures, to attract investment resources for tourism development. This is one of the important driving forces promoting the comprehensive development of Lang Son province.
The province is striving to develop the Lang Son Geopark to meet the criteria for recognition as a Global Geopark, aiming to preserve and promote the overall values of geological, cultural, historical, archaeological, and biodiversity heritage, as well as the unique scenic landscapes of the locality.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Lang Son province expressed his hope that, with the experience and knowledge of the experts on this assessment trip, they would provide recommendations to the province on how to orient and maximize the potential of the Lang Son Geopark in conjunction with tourism development, creating new and sustainable livelihoods for the local community, and making a worthy contribution to the socio-economic development of the province and the Northeast region…

The Lang Son Geopark was established in 2021, and in 2023, its boundaries were adjusted to include 8 out of 11 districts and cities, covering an area of approximately 4,842 km2 and a population of about 627,000 people (accounting for 58% of the province's area and 78% of its population).
With the theme "The Flow of Life in the Sacred Land," the province has initially developed four routes with 38 tourist destinations in Lang Son Geopark, including: Exploring the Mountain World; a Journey to the Heavenly Realm; Simple Life on Earth; and the Road to the Aquarium.
