Delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam visits and works in Cuba

Implementing the 2023 Foreign Affairs Plan, the delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam led by comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Central Propaganda Department, visited and worked in Cuba from August 22.

During the visit, Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia held talks with Comrade Rogelio Polanco Fuentes, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Ideological Department of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee.

Also attending the talks were representatives of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, the Cuban Journalists Association, and the Editor-in-Chief of Granma Newspaper - the mouthpiece of the Communist Party of Cuba.

On the Vietnamese side, there was comrade Le Hai Binh, alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department and Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Le Thanh Tung.

At the meeting, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia updated information on Vietnam's socio-economic development situation, Party building work in terms of politics , ideology and ethics associated with the fight against corruption and negativity...

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia also mentioned the goals and strategies for national development in the coming time according to the guidelines of the 13th National Congress, including developing and building the system of national values, culture, family and Vietnamese people, arousing historical values, the spirit of national solidarity; innovating, creating, improving the practicality and effectiveness of studying and following President Ho Chi Minh ; organizing research and study on studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle, associated with the implementation of Party building and rectification work, the implementation of exemplary responsibility among cadres, party members and the masses; promptly preventing and repelling ideological and political degradation, "self-evolution, self-transformation", combining construction and prevention, making an important contribution to the work of building the Party and the political system.

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia affirmed the consistent viewpoint of the two Parties and two countries on the relationship of brotherly solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and complete mutual trust, and highlighted the importance of enhancing propaganda about the foreign affairs activities of the high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and States of Vietnam and Cuba, as well as the results and achievements of bilateral cooperation.

Sharing about the field of journalism, he pointed out that the Vietnamese press upholds four missions: being a vanguard force on the ideological and cultural front; deeply reflecting people's lives, having high social criticism, being an important information channel to promptly convey the Party's policies and the State's laws to the people; being a leading force in propaganda work to protect the Party's ideological foundation, effectively criticizing information activities that sabotage the Party's revolutionary line and the country's construction.

The Vietnamese side made specific proposals to further promote cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of culture, education and training, science and technology, information and communication, as well as cooperation and coordination between the two sides on global issues such as handling fake news on cyberspace, responding to climate change and rising sea levels; further strengthening the exchange of publications about President Ho Chi Minh and Cuban leader Fidel Castro in Spanish and Vietnamese so that the younger generation can better understand the special relationship between the two countries and peoples.

For his part, comrade Rogelio Polanco Fuentes, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Ideological Department of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee, affirmed that Vietnam and Cuba, despite being geographically distant, always stand side by side on the common front to develop and build socialism and fight ideologically for national identity.

Comrade Polanco Fuentes emphasized the need to continue to strengthen experience sharing through theoretical seminars and exchanges of professional delegations.

After the talks, the two sides signed a cooperation program agreement to further promote the special friendship and solidarity between the Central Propaganda Department of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Central Ideological Department of the Communist Party of Cuba.

On the same day, authorized by the President, Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia presented the Friendship Medal of the State of Vietnam to Comrade Rodrigo Malmierca Diaz, Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment of Cuba, for his active contributions in promoting comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba.

The Friendship Medal is the most noble award of the Vietnamese State for foreign groups and citizens who have made great contributions to Vietnam.

Earlier, Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia and the delegation laid flowers at the Monument to Cuban National Hero José Martí in the capital city of Havana. Also attending were representatives of the Communist Party of Cuba's Foreign Affairs Committee, the Cuban Institute for Friendship with Peoples (ICAP), the Cuba-Vietnam Friendship Association and representatives of our country's Embassy in Cuba.
