In the days after the flood, in residential groups in Hoa Xuan ward such as Phong Nam, Quang Chau, Tay An, Dong Hoa, people were seen everywhere looking for repair shops. Water seeped into the engines, making many vehicles unable to start due to broken spark plugs, clogged exhaust pipes, and muddy oil. Vehicles broke down while repair shops were overloaded, so many people had to wait.
After learning about the free car repair support point at Hoa Xuan Ward Police Station, many people were quite happy. From November 3rd until now, dozens of cars have been brought by the police force and volunteers, gathered in the front yard of the ward police station for repair. Volunteers are skilled in their profession, focusing on cleaning spark plugs, cleaning engines, changing oil for free...
Mr. Huynh Van Tu, Quang Chau residential group, said: “On the evening of October 29, the water rose so fast that my house was flooded by more than a meter. Even though I had lifted my car up high, it was too late, and all four cars died. When I heard that the ward police had a free repair program, I was very happy. The police even came to my house to help me bring my car home. Today, my car started again, and I am truly grateful for the kindness of the young people.”

In Thang An commune, as soon as the water receded, from the morning of November 1, the Thang Binh Motorcycle Repair Team founded by Mr. Phan Thanh Chuong quickly arrived at Tra Doa I village (Thang An commune), bringing tools, spark plugs, oil... to set up a free motorcycle repair point to help people in deeply flooded areas.
Mr. Chuong said that during the days of heavy rain, he connected with nearly 20 local friends in the profession, made plans, prepared his luggage, and as soon as the water receded, he was ready to go to the flood-affected area to help people repair their motorbikes with the spirit of "helping with whatever is available".
“All the repairmen know quite well that flooded vehicles will have difficulty running again if they are not repaired soon. We just hope to help people have a means of transportation soon, to overcome this difficult period,” Mr. Chuong shared.
Mrs. Tran Thi Hien (Group 4, Tra Doa I Village) was happy when her motorbike started again. She said that the water rose so quickly that she only had time to lift small, light objects up high, while she watched helplessly as the refrigerator and motorbike sank into the water. After being submerged in water for so long, her only motorbike could no longer work. While she was trying to get it repaired, a free repair team came to her aid, and she was very happy.
In just one morning, Thang Binh Motorcycle Repair Team helped nearly 300 flooded vehicles operate again, bringing joy to the people during the difficult days after the flood.
Mr. Chuong said that after completing in Thang An, the group continued to move to other localities to support more households.
Behind the “revived” cars are the sweat and smiles of volunteers. They are skilled, enthusiastic workers, working continuously from morning to night, regardless of mud, dirt, and oil. Many people take advantage of the evening to bring flashlights and tools to continue repairing so that the cars can be delivered to the people in time.

The leader of the Da Nang SOS Team, Dang Ngoc Tien, said: “Most of the cars were flooded, the spark plugs were broken, water got into the exhaust pipes and engine compartments. We cleaned them thoroughly, replaced the spark plugs, and changed the oil to get the cars running again. All of this is free. In the near future, the team will continue to go to Dai Loc commune to support people who suffered more serious damage.”
“
The above activities not only contribute to supporting people to overcome current difficulties but also provide an opportunity for young police officers to demonstrate their spirit of initiative, volunteerism and responsibility to the community. Thereby, contributing to spreading the spirit of mutual love and solidarity, strengthening people's trust in the police force at the grassroots level.
Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Van Ngoc, Secretary of the Youth Union of Hoa Xuan Ward Police
In just three days, the Hoa Xuan Ward Police and the Da Nang SOS Team helped nearly 80 vehicles to be “revived”. In Thang An, the Thang Binh Motorcycle Repair Team helped nearly 300 flooded vehicles to operate again, bringing joy to the people during the difficult days after the flood.
When the engine roared, joy was evident on every face. Amidst the mud and oil, the hands of the young people wrote a beautiful story about the spirit of sharing and community responsibility.
