On September 4th, the Da Nang City Department of Finance responded to a complaint from a business owner who, after registering their establishment, continuously received dozens of calls from individuals impersonating finance and tax officials , requesting them to add them on Zalo to complete procedures.

Previously, Mr. NTM (residing in Da Nang ) reported through the city's feedback portal that after registering his business at the Department of Finance on August 23rd, he continuously received 20 calls from unknown numbers, claiming to be officials from the Department of Finance and the Thanh Khe Tax Office. These individuals requested him to add them on Zalo to complete the business registration procedures.

Realizing the calls were fraudulent, Mr. M immediately disconnected, but continued to receive calls with offensive language. Before registering his business, he had never received such calls.

Regarding the incident, the Da Nang Department of Finance affirmed that it has no policy, nor has it assigned any officials to proactively contact citizens or businesses via phone or social media to guide them in installing applications or adding them on Zalo to facilitate administrative procedures.

The department stated that it had issued a warning about the impersonation of the department for fraudulent purposes and had forwarded the information to the Police Investigation Agency for coordinated action.

The Department of Finance advises citizens and businesses to be vigilant and absolutely refrain from providing personal information, bank account details, transferring money, or following illegal instructions from strangers via phone or social media.

"When receiving messages or calls that show signs of fraud, it is necessary to save evidence such as messages and recordings and report them to the telecommunications company managing the subscriber for handling; at the same time, provide evidence to the police to promptly handle the violators," the Da Nang City Department of Finance noted.
