Mr. Johnathan Hanh Nguyen spent nearly 3 hours talking with students of Dalat University about learning and personal development on the afternoon of May 6.
Throughout his conversation, the 73-year-old businessman, Chairman of the Inter -Pacific Group - IPPG, always emphasized his gratitude to the place where he started his life journey: Dalat University, the predecessor of Dalat University.
Mr. Hanh Nguyen is a former student of Political Science and Business course 6 (school year 1969 - 1973).

As you know, I am a former student of Dalat University, in its early stages, when it was still Dalat University with many member schools. Although I have traveled, studied and lived in many places after leaving the school, the values I received from the beginning are always precious assets.
The philosophy of the school since its inception has been the basis for the rest of my life's journey. For that, I am grateful.
My contributions, though considered by the school to be great, valuable, and sincere, I consider them to be only small, personal, and limited. If all the alumni who have "received" from the school contribute and support together, then it can be considered to be significantly great.
"One tree alone cannot make a forest, three trees together can make a high mountain." That is an important source of resonance for the development of the school. Each person contributes a hand, the school will be stronger, richer, and have more facilities to train students.
My contributions, big or small, are to repay my old school and teachers. We do it for the sake of learning. To help the school reach its potential, not only in the Central Highlands or the South Central Coast, but also to become a strong training center.
- Artificial intelligence (AI) is in the future and you have seen it now, it lays the foundation for the future, and robots will appear in many different forms to support people in their work. That is the trend.
Therefore, when purchasing copyrights for AI documents in the US, we do not aim to make money but to lay the foundation for young people from elementary to university to become global citizens: understanding with AI, speaking with AI and thinking with AI.
After implementing AI education in Ho Chi Minh City, I brought AI to Da Lat and established the Artificial Intelligence Center (AIC) at Da Lat University.
The training program of AIC Dalat University uses the international AI curriculum, abbreviated as K12. This is a set of books that has been copyrighted and localized from the AI Future Intelligent Manufacture curriculum of UBtech Education Company (USA), currently being taught in many advanced countries in the world such as the US, China, and Korea.
The reason I chose the school to establish the center and not another place: first, as I said, I wanted to repay Da Lat, the place that gave me the foundation to go to higher education in the US and start prestigious jobs there. Second, the Central Highlands is still lacking a lot, so we want to bring it back to balance the Central Highlands and other big cities.
I hope that through AI training and development, Da Lat will become a place for the AI community to exchange in the near future. And the Central Highlands, thanks to AI applications in many fields, will be on par with other provinces and cities in many aspects.
From another perspective, we must admit that Dalat is favorable to become an ideal center for academic and scientific exchange.
- Human resources are the soul of the company. The employees make up the company and its reputation, not the Chairman of the Board of Directors or the General Director.
But these two men have the responsibility to steer the company and its staff in the right direction. From there, employees work to create value for themselves and the company.
I train in a progressive way. When team 1 is developed, team 2 is trained to have the opportunity to follow in their footsteps, and team 3, team 4 and so on.
Obviously, not just working long will be promoted to higher levels, but we have evaluation standards to upgrade the company's human resources. Subsidiaries in the group also follow this way to always have a solid backing to go on the long-term path, in line with the vision of the leadership.
At work, I obey the labor laws, but sometimes I am moved by the way my colleagues behave. As long as I work, they will work.
Some employees got married and had to move abroad. The children came to say goodbye with tears in their eyes because they did not want to leave the company they had worked for so long. Being successful in HR is because your colleagues trust and love you.
In my workplace, I treat janitors just like any other employee. They deserve respect for many reasons.
For me, training human resources is paramount. And speaking of this, I would like to tell the students that a lifetime of work is a lifetime of learning. If you want to advance from level 4 to level 3, 2, 1, your level of education must be the same. Learning here includes going to school and lifelong self-learning.
- Let's study and help our friends from now on. Go out, reduce. Go to school, go to practice, increase. In America, students have a culture of sharing food and sharing. In our country, students are like brothers, shouldering the burden together. That is a good thing to study together, to advance together.
In school, don’t forget to respect your teachers and learn step by step. Students who want to dream big and live a life worth living must have the knowledge to identify which dream is big and which life is worth living. It’s not easy, guys.
Only learning can give you those two things to choose and live. There, talking deeply about learning, there are thousands of smaller things, but in the end, I still want to say to you, students in Da Lat or anywhere, please train yourself first to have enough capacity to welcome the future.
- I said above, now that you're out of college, you have to think about AI, talk to AI, and work with AI. It's a trend that the world has established, so we can't stand outside.
I think that post-graduate workers, or students who have just graduated, should know better than anyone else what they need. Because what they choose to study is what they want. And choosing which school is the next step to fulfill their previous wishes.
There are many opinions about how to study effectively and then work effectively. But personally, from my own experience, I advise students not to study like a bookworm, studying to recite lessons.
You have to study first, study at school, then ask a lot, answer a lot to increase the absorption rate by 150%. Study the whole thing and then go deep into the nooks and crannies. And pay maximum attention to all knowledge related to the profession you are studying.
Knowledge is up to you, for you, no one can force it on you. What you learn is up to you.
- The school needs to promote. Not for commercial purposes but so that students know about the school, know about its strengths and weaknesses.
It is recommended that the school should contact alumni through many channels to see which students have grown up, are business leaders, and have great influence to cooperate in training and training consulting.
It seems that many schools in Vietnam have not done this yet, but in countries with developed private universities, this is promoted. If people want to know how good a school is, they can know something by looking at this team.
In addition, this is also a group of motivation to develop together with the school. Training human resources at this time the school cannot stand alone anymore. Through the group of motivation, the school will know what the output of the students will be. That is very good.
Schools must be prepared for the day when businesses come to the school and select staff while students are still studying. This is to hope that schools will consider connecting with businesses as a training task in the future.
- Dalat University is famous, has many excellent and successful students in many fields. Therefore, we should not be too modest about being a regional training center.
Dream big, work big. The school will train national and international human resources in the fields where the school has strengths such as basic science, agriculture, application of information technology and AI, post-harvest technology, agriculture adapting to climate change.
The school builds a strategy to welcome students from all over the country, including international students. Once the training strengths are determined, the training scope is also established. The human resources will be used for which area, that is the natural order of things we have established.
Graduates do not stay in the Central Highlands but go to work everywhere, while the Central Highlands - Lam Dong - Da Lat welcomes trained workers from everywhere to come and participate in the field that the locality is developing.
Water will flow to the right place naturally, the school itself does not necessarily confine itself to a geographical framework.
