After overcoming difficult challenges against the U22 Malaysia team and the Thai women's team, both coaches Mai Duc Chung and Kim Sang Sik are dreaming of repeating the success their teams achieved when they won the championship in Thailand. However, the opportunity is clearly more in favor of the Vietnamese women's team.

The U22 Vietnam team is heading to the semi-finals of the SEA Games 33 with the goal of reaching the final and winning the championship at Rajamangala Stadium, the same venue that witnessed the convincing victory of the Vietnamese national team at the AFF Cup 2024, after defeating host Thailand 3-2 in the second leg of the final. However, achieving this will not be easy, as their opponent, the Philippines, has undergone a significant transformation.
The U22 Philippines concluded their journey in Group C of the men's football tournament at the 33rd SEA Games after defeating the defending champions, U22 Indonesia, 1-0 in a dramatic match. This second consecutive victory gave coach Garrath McPherson's team a full 6 points, securing first place in the group and officially qualifying for the semi-finals.
With such consistent performance, Kim Sang Sik's team will not be easily intimidated by their opponents.

Regarding preparations for the semi-final match against the Philippines U22 team, coach Kim Sang Sik said: “The Philippines played earlier, so they have an advantage in terms of recovery. The most important thing right now is to prepare physically and tactically as best as possible. Our goal is to reach the final and win the championship at Rajamangala.”

The Vietnamese women's team will face Indonesia in the semi-finals. They are not a particularly strong opponent, and we have beaten them many times before. The Indonesian women's team had a disappointing start to the 2025 SEA Games, losing 0-8 to Thailand, before overcoming Singapore to reach the semi-finals. Given their current strength, Indonesia shouldn't be a particularly difficult opponent for the Vietnamese women's team to overcome.

Coach Mai Duc Chung emphasized that the team will prepare thoroughly for the next semi-final match: "Indonesia and Malaysia have both improved. We respect our opponents and will focus intensely on the upcoming match."
We will be waiting for the Vietnamese women's team to successfully defend their SEA Games title. If they manage to do so again, the Vietnamese women's team's achievement will be very special and admirable.
