At the 19th ASIAD (Hangzhou, China), the Vietnamese women's football team was in the same group with the Japanese team, the Nepal team and the Bangladesh team.

Among these opponents, the Japanese team is considered the strongest and most likely to win the top spot in the group. Therefore, the goal of coach Mai Duc Chung and his team is to finish second and aim for a place in the next round through one of the three second-place teams with the best results.

The women's football tournament featured 16 teams, divided into five groups. There were three groups of three teams and two groups of four teams. The five group winners and the three best runners-up advanced. However, before the tournament began, the Cambodian women's team withdrew, leaving Group C with only two teams.

The Vietnamese women's team aims to pass the group stage of ASIAD 19.
