On the morning of August 23rd, a group of 51 tourists from the Philippines, led by Mr. William S. Cezar, Mayor of Rosales Municipality, Pangasinan, Philippines, arrived in Ha Long to experience an overnight stay on Ha Long Bay. The group was welcomed by leaders from the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Department of Tourism, and representatives from travel agencies.

During their trip to Vietnam, the delegation spent two days and one night on the Catherine Cruise to explore and experience resort-style tourism activities in Ha Long Bay. Leaders from the Quang Ninh Department of Foreign Affairs, the Quang Ninh Department of Tourism, and representatives from travel agencies presented flowers to welcome the delegation and provided information promoting Quang Ninh tourism to the members. This was also one of the activities that concretized the friendly relationship between Vietnam and the Philippines, as well as between Quang Ninh and Cebu, through the East Asia Travel Alliance (EATOF).

In an effort to expand its international tourist market, the Southeast Asian market, including the Philippines, is one of the markets that Quang Ninh tourism has been actively exploiting in recent times, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic. At the same time, this is also the first group of tourists, concretizing the cooperation program to expand tourism routes between Vietnam and the Philippines after Quang Ninh welcomed a famtrip of 37 Philippine travel and tourism businesses on August 1st, aimed at researching and understanding Quang Ninh tourism and exploring opportunities for tourism cooperation between the two sides.

In the first seven months of 2024, tourist destinations in Quang Ninh province welcomed nearly 13 million visitors, a 20% increase compared to the same period last year. Of these, over 2.2 million were international visitors, equivalent to the total number of international visitors in 2023. The province is currently striving to welcome 19 million domestic and international tourists in 2024.
