This specialized school system is cared for and supported by the Party and the State to train quality human resources for ethnic minority and mountainous areas and is also a place to preserve and spread the cultural values of ethnic groups through the notes, dances, and stories performed by the students.
Preserving cultural identity
Not only focusing on innovating methods and investing in facilities to improve teaching and learning quality, many ethnic boarding schools in Dong Nai province also proactively create a comprehensive educational environment, combining modern knowledge with traditional identity values.
There, students have access to new technology, experience intuitive learning models, but still nurture national pride in every class and every extracurricular activity. Among these, Loc Ninh Ethnic Boarding School - Secondary School is a bright spot.

Loc Ninh Ethnic Boarding Secondary School (Loc Ninh Commune, Dong Nai Province) was established in 1997, is a specialized school of the district because it is both general and ethnic and boarding. It gathers 10 ethnic groups with 168 students from communes in remote, isolated and border areas in Loc Ninh to study at the school.
In 2022, the new school will be built in the center of the district, spacious and clean with a total cost of 50 billion VND, including items such as: classroom block, administrative block and combined library, dormitory block, public housing block, cafeteria, kitchen, ...
Once completed and put into use, the project will create conditions for ethnic minority children to study and train in a good environment, contributing to creating quality human resources for the locality.

In particular, the school has smart classrooms, creating conditions for 100% of students to use computers to experience and practice intuitive, rich and attractive knowledge.
Math teacher Nguyen Anh Tu (Loc Ninh Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities - Middle School) said that the model of teaching Math on computers at the school has been implemented for the past 4 years and from the 2024-2025 school year, there will be smart classrooms, intuitive learning so it is easy to learn, easy to absorb and creates interest for learners. In addition to Math, other subjects, especially natural sciences , also use smart classrooms to teach and practice right on the computer.
In addition to promoting solutions to comprehensively improve the quality of education, since the 2015-2016 school year, the school has been fully equipped with a pentatonic musical set with main musical instruments belonging to 5 sound groups: bronze, iron, wood, leather and wind. Therefore, in addition to Khmer songs, the children here also practice other songs about the country, homeland and people of Vietnam.

The school also has a lithophone for students to exchange, study and learn more about the cultural values of many different ethnic groups.
Ms. Vu Thi Quynh Anh, a music teacher, said that thanks to the full investment in musical instruments, in addition to the main team, it has attracted many students who love to participate. The school also creates conditions for the band to serve on major occasions of the school, the locality and the education and training sector. Maintaining and promoting traditional cultural values from musical instruments and village dances is also an invisible thread connecting ethnic communities together.
Chu Hoang Kinh, class 8A1 (Loc Ninh Ethnic Boarding School - Secondary School) said: "Although I am of the Nung ethnic group, I have been able to study and practice the pentatonic scale as well as learn deeply about the Khmer people through musical notes and lectures from teachers. From there, I have a deeper understanding of the cultural traditions of the ethnic communities in our country."

The motivation to nurture dreams
Dong Nai Province Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities (Hung Thinh Commune, Dong Nai Province) was put into operation in 1993, on the existing facilities of the Provincial Agricultural School. With many achievements in teaching and learning, the school was awarded the Third Class Labor Medal in 2002.
In order to meet the needs of teaching and learning, Dong Nai province has invested more than 152 billion VND to renovate and upgrade completely. After the renovation, the school has spacious facilities with 15 classrooms, subject rooms, traditional rooms, kitchen, dining room, dormitory, playground, practice ground, medical room, meeting the learning needs of over 500 students.

Ms. Bui Thi Vi Van (Muong ethnic - Math teacher, Dong Nai province's Ethnic Boarding School) is a student of the second class (1994-1997) of the school and said: "Since I was little, I dreamed of becoming a teacher to 'sow letters' to the children of my ethnic group. With outstanding academic achievements, at that time I was admitted directly to Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics".
"But then I decided to switch to the Mathematics Pedagogy Department at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education to pursue my dream. After graduating from university, I returned to the same school where I studied to continue imparting knowledge to my ethnic students," teacher Van added.
Ms. Vi Van is one of many former students who grew up from Dong Nai Province Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities. This is the place where talents are nurtured for many generations, in which many former students have become famous in all areas of social life. Therefore, when coming to this school to study, they all set the goal of studying well to pursue their dreams.

At ethnic boarding schools, students are also nurtured with ideals, inspired with aspirations to rise up, and strive to continue writing their own future. Therefore, in each student, there is not only progress in learning but also maturity in personality, thinking and life goals.
Ho Thi Bich Ngoc, class 10A2, Dong Nai Province Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, shared: “Studying at this school helped me to be independent from a young age, reducing the economic burden on my family. Especially, when I go to school, I set clear learning goals so that when I succeed in the future, I can come back to repay the kindness of my teachers and the school's Board of Directors.”
Ly Thu Thao, class 11A2, Dong Nai Province Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, expressed: "Thanks to the care, guidance, and inspiration of my teachers, I will try my best in my studies and am determined to take the university entrance exam to return to school to teach children in the future."
