In his address to the Federal Parliament on November 13, Chancellor Olaf Scholz urged political parties in the German legislature to continue cooperating on key bills ahead of the upcoming elections.

Prime Minister Scholz will ask the Federal Parliament to hold a vote of confidence in the current government . The vote is scheduled for December 16th, and new elections will be held on February 23rd, 2025.
During that period, he urged the parties in the German Parliament to work towards "passing very important and urgent laws."
Some of these bills could achieve majority approval in the Federal Parliament, such as those relating to income tax, child allowances, and changes to the Basic Law (German Constitution).
Regarding the Ukraine issue, Chancellor Scholz affirmed that Germany has a duty to prevent the escalation of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Therefore, Berlin should rule out the possibility of transferring Taurus long-range cruise missiles to Ukraine.
Regarding transatlantic cooperation, in a phone call on November 11th with US President-elect Donald Trump, Scholz affirmed his desire for active cooperation with Washington and assessed the good transatlantic relationship as the "foundation of Germany's success" for decades.
