This was a suggestion from Hanoi's tourism businesses at the "Investment Promotion Conference for Tourism Development in Ha Nam Province" organized by Ha Nam province on the morning of October 18th.
Information from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ha Nam Province indicates that Ha Nam is currently a locality with great tourism potential, adjacent to key tourist destinations in the Red River Delta such as Huong Pagoda (Hanoi), Pho Hien (Hung Yen), Tran Temple (Nam Dinh), Bai Dinh - Trang An (Ninh Binh)... with abundant tourism resources. Ha Nam has many advantages to develop various types of tourism such as: ecotourism, golf tourism, cultural tourism, among which, the development of cultural tourism is a prominent strength, especially in the Tam Chuc National Tourist Area.

In 2023, Ha Nam welcomed over 4 million tourists, generating over 3,000 billion VND in tourism revenue. In the first nine months of 2024 alone, Ha Nam is expected to receive approximately 4.2 million tourists, with total tourism revenue exceeding 3,200 billion VND. This has made a positive contribution to the province's socio-economic development and provided impetus for the development of many other sectors and fields.
Ha Nam province is gradually establishing itself as one of the most attractive tourist destinations. For two consecutive years, 2023 and 2024, Ha Nam was honored by the World Tourism Awards as the "World's Leading Local Culture Destination" and the "Asia's Leading Emerging Tourist Destination".
Although many tourists have chosen Ha Nam as a destination, experts believe that the number of visitors is not commensurate with the potential that Ha Nam possesses. The reasons include limited tourism infrastructure, a lack of diverse and attractive tourism products, and a workforce that does not meet development needs… preventing Ha Nam's tourism from making a strong breakthrough on the Vietnamese tourism map.
Offering suggestions to boost tourism in Ha Nam, Nguyen Tuan Anh, Vice President of the UNESCO Hanoi Travel Club, stated that to attract tourists, especially international visitors, to Ha Nam, the tourism industry needs to prioritize upgrading infrastructure such as hotels, restaurants, and related services. To achieve this, Ha Nam province needs to implement additional mechanisms and policies regarding infrastructure and construction area, thereby attracting investment capital for the tourism sector.

Agreeing with this opinion, Nguyen Van Tai, Director of VietSense Travel, said that to attract tourists, Ha Nam tourism needs to strengthen connections with provinces and cities in the Northern Delta region. In particular, it should focus on connecting with Hanoi to build common tour routes suitable for specific tourist groups. "Through building this connection, we will create opportunities for Ha Nam tourism to exchange tourists with Hanoi and other localities," Mr. Nguyen Van Tai emphasized.
To ensure the sustainable development of tourism in Ha Nam province, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, Nguyen Le Phuc, proposed several solutions. Accordingly, the province needs to strengthen promotion, especially focusing on digital platforms. Tourism promotion activities should be focused and targeted, aligning with the development orientation of tourism products and brands.
Besides implementing policies to encourage investment in tourism and infrastructure, Ha Nam needs to continue to leverage its strengths, focusing on developing unique tourism products associated with environmental protection and preserving traditional cultural values. In particular, it should improve service quality and create memorable experiences for tourists. Simultaneously, it should develop smart tourism and exploit innovative tourism models that combine cultural heritage and digital technology...
Responding to proposals from Hanoi tourism businesses, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Nam province, Truong Quoc Huy, stated that in the coming time, Ha Nam will continue to build transportation infrastructure connecting expressways, along routes with trees and water features to create scenic landscapes and provide photo opportunities for tourists; strengthen investment resources for the restoration of spiritual sites, and develop high-quality agricultural tourism and traditional craft villages; and focus on attracting investors to build high-class accommodation areas and high-quality sports facilities, especially golf.
At the conference, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between Ha Nam province and Binh Dinh and Ha Giang provinces, along with corporations and businesses investing in the economic and tourism sectors, the UNESCO Hanoi Travel Club, and others.
